Bed Room will be emptied and cleaned up.
It's supposed to be a shared flat but the roommate wont be there because of Corona crisis so you wont share the flat. Living room will be still furnished with some equipment like a small oven and probably a toaster and some dishes. There is a small fridge+freezer and heating plates in the living/kitchen room.
In the student housing, there are many things freely available (BUT, this can be disturbed by Corona/quarantine) :
- fitness room
- laundry room in house 8 (paid with StudiCard, I can probably lend you mine)
- storage rooms for bicycles
- movie room (It opens to play platform games and sometimes watch movies)
- Music room (room with instruments where you can play as loud as you want)
- bar (student bar open on Wednesdays and Fridays after 9pm until... it depends)
The student housing is made of 4 main buildings and 2 smaller ones. In between these buildings, you have trees, grass, benches... It creates a quiet and peaceful place to live. You can sometimes see some squirrels, birds and rabbits in the neighborhood. In general, the whole area (streets around) is very quiet.
- You are 1 to 2 min from a tram stop and from a supermarket (Rewe).
- It takes around 15min to get to the city center and 20-25min to go to the university by tram (direct way).
- If you have your own car, there are a lot of parking slots in front of the buildings, but there are many people coming and leaving, so depending on the time, there can be many or just few slots left.
To get to the flat from the main train station (Hauptbahnhof) , you can take the tram 52, 53 (easiest) or Bus 66, 67, 9 (towards Hechtsheim). You exit the tram at the stop “Kurmainz-Kaserne/ Akademie der Wissenschaften“.
When you get out of the tram, the student housing (Wohnheim) is in front of you behind the trees.
Because of Corona, I wont study this semester in Mainz but I still "own" the flat till September.
You will be able to get the keys at the caretaker on special hours, probably the morning around 10-11, maybe the afternoon too, depending on Corona.
When leaving the flat at the end of your stay, you shall clean the bed room because you will be the one doing the check out with the care taker.
Don't hesitate to ask question!
