The room is small, but light and bright with laminate flooring and a big window looking out onto the courtyard outside. It is furnished with a day bed, wardrobe, small table, and seating bench. The use of high-speed cable internet is included.
The apartment has a fitted kitchen with a seating area, oven, hob and a brand new fridge, microwave, washing machine, kettle, and toaster. There is also a small bathroom with a shower and window.
The flat is in the south west area of Berlin (Freidenau/Steglitz). The nearest u-bahns are U3 Breitenbachplatz (600m/ 8 min walk) or U9 Schlossstr (700m / 10 min walk). S1 Rathaus Steglitz is also nearby (around a 1km), and there is a bus that runs to the station directly in front of the apartment building.
Schlosstr is one of Berlin’s biggest shopping districts, so there are pretty much all the shops you could need within walking distance (inc. four different shopping centres), as well as a cinema, a couple of fitness centres, and lots of supermarkets, restaurants, cafes, take-aways etc. Steglitz is one of Berlin’s more peaceful neighbourhoods, but is safe and central with great amenities, nice parks, and (as the FU is nearby) has a fair few students living here as well.
You would be living here with me (Hannah, 25). I am originally from the UK, but recently moved to Berlin from London. I am currently doing a PhD (in literary and cultural theory) and work part-time at a media agency in Kreuzberg. Because of my studies and work, I’m usually quite busy during the week and often wake up early to do the morning shift at work. Because of this, I would prefer a roommate who also has their own routine and wouldn’t want to be eg. partying loudly on a Tues night. That being said, I do still like to enjoy the city on the weekend and go out with friends. So it would be nice to find someone who would be up for joining in and having few drinks, or going to the park or some bars etc. on the weekend (this obviously isn’t obligatory though). As I’ve put quite a lot of work into renovating and furnishing the apartment, I would like to find someone who would take care of the place and help to keep it reasonably clean.
I travel a fair amount and, as my boyfriend still lives in London, go there regularly. Sometimes he visits me here (usually for around 2 – 4 nights per month). The other important thing to mention is that we have two little ferrets (Lilah and Loui). At the moment they are still living with him, but we have a long-term plan to get them passports and bring them here (probably in the summer), so then you would gain two extra little roommates. They are really cute, and would only be allowed to play and run around outside the cage in my room, so shouldn’t bother you too much, but if you have any phobias, allergies, or general dislike of small furry animals, this probably isn’t the place for you.
The contract is initially 6 months, but can be renewed if we’re both happy. The room is free at the moment, so move-in date is flexible. I am only looking for one roommate so please no couples. Water, electricity, gas, internet are all included in the rent.
If you would like to set up a viewing, please write to me (feel free to write in English, German, or Russian), and let me know who you are, what you do, when you would like to move in etc.
Please read the whole description before writing. I will put up some pictures in the next few days.
Thanks, and hope to hear from you soon!
Hannah
