* given the two blue "male" icons that WG-gesucht shows right on, we'd like to stress that we don't have a gender preference and we would like to also encourage applications from FLINTA people (who want to live with two more male-identifying persons).
Between 13-15 smq, rent should be around 650 warm but we still need to do the final calculations. We have the contract for four years and are looking for a permanent roommate, however if you want to move short-term while we look for someone permanent, let us know. We are open for ideas. The Flat has a huge livingroom-kitchen area and a second lounge-living room upstairs, access to the roof, a balcony and two bathrooms.
5 Mins walking from Ostkreuz, mehr musste nicht sagen hey
We (Lukas and Finn) are in the lucky position to be able to establish a new WG, something that was our big dream since the beginning of our 20s. Since it’s a big thing for us and we have a huge communal space in the flat, we want to find a perfect match. We are looking for someone who is down to make this space our new home, who wants to live in a communal/familiar environment and is open to spend good time with the roommates in and outside of the WG. So, ideally we should all find some capacity in our busy life and social schedules to give the WG-building some time and energy. Schedules are tight in Berlin, entertainment is plentiful, distances are long, and we have limited time so we know we can’t force anything, but it would be great to start this thing with the same outlook. While we both love and value our free time a lot (maybe too much), we also have quite some obligations so I guess it goes without saying that our future roommate should have some degree of structure and regularity in their life and the same idea of keeping our space tidy and beautiful.
If this sounds like you, please get in touch via (pun-the WG is in Simplonstraße), including your phone number. Tell us about your passions, what drives, what’s important to you in WG-life and what you are doing, if you like. Also let us know your favorite place in nature, just to prove that you fully read the ad. We can then send you a vid. of the place as we only move in first of May ourselves. We hope to be able to supply pictures to this ad soon. We may delete this announcement soon and we may be unable to answer to everyone (as we all know the flatsearch craze) but we’ll honestly try. In case we don’t, we wish you the best of luck with the search, don’t give up, you’re still an amazing human being but also we have limited capacities.
About us: I (Finn) always hated this self-portrayal when looking for a room but maybe it helps you decide if it's a fit
Finn
I am 29 years old and after a lot of back and forth in other disciplines, I am hopefully soon finishing my master’s degree in psychology and working Part-Time on the side. After growing up in the Lower-Saxonian countryside, I’ve had stops in NL, Australia and Central & South America before coming to Berlin permanently in 2020.
I have a big passion for watersports, especially surfing and sailing, which are hobbies that guide a lot of my free-time and spending. In my Berlin-bound free-time I like to skate at Tfeld, sauna, swim, frisbee, sail with the little Dinghy that Lukas and I co-own and to just be in nature. Listening to electronic music since I’m 15 and recently more Neo-Soul and Jazz, I am also still quite enthusiastic about the Berlin music scene although this passion lost some of its centrality in the last years .
I am very much addicted to caffeine, so you’ll always see me with some kind of caffeinated drink in my hand (good coffee, green tea, mate, my own Guarana-Shake-creation, etc). I grew up vegetarian and I love cooking. I don’t use social media.
Things that are important to me in WG Life:
- Respect for the shared space and the fact that it’s your own but also your roommates’ home and safe space.
- Open Communication about our needs, triggers and insecurities, etc., we all have them and it’s easier to take them into account if we communicate open and with trust.
- Being upfront about things rather than swallowing them and resorting to passive aggressiveness, everyone can sense if something is wrong, and I’d rather know what’s up than arriving at my own faulty explanations.
- Core values informed by environmentalism, anti-racism, feminism & acceptance (without moralizing though)
Lukas
Hi, I am Lukas. I have lived on my own for quite a number of years but also in different community constellations. It was always a dream to start a very own WG from scratch and recently we got so lucky to find this place. As you can tell from the text above, this place should really feel like home for everyone.
My greatest passion has always been music, I played different instruments and sang all my life and am currently trying to professionalize my art as well. I have a studio-room in 15 mins cycling distance from the apartment where I do most of the work, so no need to worry about any unwanted noise. Which brings me to an important point: unwanted things. Let’s try to identify and work on them collaboratively, once we live together. I know it’s easier said than done, but let’s try to create a space of unfiltered, non-judgemental, respectful and sincere communication. I want to be able to say to my roommate: ey, that thing made me feel uncomfortable. And just as much I hope for my roommate to tell me if I am making them feel uncomfortable. Because discomfort really is the least I’d want in this beautiful place.
Also I love being outside. Nature is my refuge and also Berlin’s beautiful sites do their job pretty damn well. I am big time into Frisbee playing and other park activities, beers and such by the sunset, road-trips to the sea, and also water sports are good fun! I’d say kitesurfing is my biggest one there.
My day job is the one of a clinical psychologist, I’ve been working in the field for 2,5 years now. Before that I was also working as a yoga instructor. Those things can also be combined and I wanna slowly become self-employed; I’d be happy to share inspirations and to hear about what you thrive for.
