The room is about 12 square meters, it is furnished with a large custom-made bed with a lot of storage space underneath, lots of shelves, a large wooden desks with embedded drawers and cupboards, nice curtains, a second smaller desk, bedside table, cloth rack, open wardrobe behind the door etc. It has still quite some available space (my roommate always keeps an open drying rack there and there's still extra space).
The room has a very large window. The closest road is small and ~50 meters away (no car noise at night), and the view is great: the closest buildings are 100+ meters away, and you can see Friedrichstrasse at its full length(!), a small park and far on the left a large wall with a huge graffiti. The sunset view is also spectacular.
Krezuberg. Right above U1+U6 Hallesches Tor. The location is just perfect.
Very central, extremely well connected, covered by tons of services and quiet. I believe it's the best possible place to live for whoever works in Mitte or in Kreuzberg.
* Transit and connections:
From the balcony you can see U6 Hallesches Tor, which is about 30 meters away, while U1 Hallesches Tor is about 100 meters away. Lots of buses also cover the area.
I usually move by bike: shared-bike station right downstairs, full of bike paths all around, and everything is so close that you can be anywhere in 5~10 minutes.
Lots of main destinations are easily reachable with no transfers:
- Friedrichstrasse, 5 minutes on the U6
- Potsdamer Platz: 6 minutes on the M41 or 15 minutes walking
- Alexanderplatz: 12 minutes on the bus 248
- Hauptbanhof: 13 minutes on the M41
- Kottbusser Tor: 4 minutes on the U1
- Hermannplatz: 10 minutes on the M41
- Kurfuesterdamm: 10 minutes on the U1
- Warschauerstr, 8 minutes on the U1
- Checkpoint Charlie, 1 minute on the U6 or 10 minutes walking
- Wedding, 10 minutes on the U6
- Tempelhof, 7 minutes on the U6
- Sonnenallee: 20 minutes on the M41
* Services and facilities
Lots of useful shops and facilities are available.
A supermarket (Edeka) and a nice cafe' are literally downstairs.
Turkish, Asian, Indian restaurants, a pharmacy, a doctor, an optician, a spätkauf etc are super close (50~100 meters away).
A huge public library (Amerika-Gedenkbibliothek), two Lidle, Netto, a post office, a Poco, a biggish Asian shop, bike shops, lots of museums, tons of restaurants etc are less than 5 minutes away walking.
* Area
The apartment is on top of a pleasant square where cars are not allowed.
The kitchen and shared balcony face some trees, while the room's window looks out along the beginning of Friedrichstrasse. All the apartment's windows are at least 50 meters away from the streets (squares and shops are directly under the windows), and the area is cheerful and full of life during the day and very quiet at night.
A nice river (the Landwehr Canal), 150 meters away, is great for peaceful walks. I often walk along it all the way until Kottbusser Bruecke (it's a great 30 minutes walk surrounded by nature and art pieces).
Several parks are everywhere around the area.
The apartment is quiet, usually empty and peaceful.
We're not living an intense shared-apartment life: we're all working and often travelling, and are looking for a completely stress-free situation. We are of course friendly and helpful with each other and sometimes we share dinners or go out together.
We're looking for somebody with a similar lifestyle.
Occasionally hosting guests in our own rooms is of course fine and welcomed, and sometimes we have guests for dinner or a casual WG dinner.
Three people live here:
- Ramiro, from Argentina. He's leaving this flat to move together with his girlfriend. He's been here since December 2016.
- Krez, from USA. He's working as a programmer and travelling a lot. He has been here since August 2018.
- Mattia, from Italy. He's working as a programmer as well. Has been here since July 2019.
We have a laundry machine, an extra mattress for guests, a very fast WiFi working flawlessly and you can count on technical support in case of any issues ;)
We don't wear shoes inside and try to clean what we used right after cooking. We're cleaning the apartment once per week. We can decide together how to handle shifts.
Smoking in the apartment is forbidden. Guests can smoke on the balcony, while people living here can smoke on the balcony only during the summer (if you need to smoke during the winter, you can use the balcony in the building's corridor).
