Hello!
This offer is about a small room (about 10 m²) in the basement of a family house in Herdern.
It is a fully furnished room, including a bed, one small closet, a desk, a bedside cabinet, a shelf, and a bedside table.
It includes heating for the winter and is cool during the summer because it's located below ground level.
The shared space of the WG includes:
- Washing and drying machines;
- Fully equipped Kitchen (so no need to buy any kitchen instruments, in case you don't have them) with microwave oven, electrical oven, and stove;
- Shower room;
- Toilet;
- Corridor, where there's a cabinet, in which you can store your personal groceries.
Personally speaking, the room had everything I needed during my 8-month stay, even though it has its downsides, such as the lack of lighting (the window shown in the picture is the only source of natural light) and some of the furniture is somewhat damaged ( e.g. the closet does not have a door).
In my opinion, it is best suited for someone that doesn't spend too much time in the room.
The location is clearly one of the upsides of the room.
The family house is located in Herdern, one of the fanciest places in Freiburg, which is very beautiful, calm, safe, and close to nature.
In a 5-minute walking distance from the house, there is a bakery, pharmacy, and a bus stop that can bring you from/to the city center (Europaplatz).
In a ~10-minute walking distance, there's a Penny market and a line 4 tram stop that can lead you from/to the city center.
In the vicinity, there's also Schlossberg and Stadtgarten.
The place is around 5 minutes biking from Münsterplatz, close to the city center.
The WG life during my stay was very pleasant, with Lukas (Italian Biology master student, moving out soon), Anna (Spanish Renewable Energies master student, moving out soon), and Saheri (Indian Biology master student), with usual chit-chatting in the corridor and in the kitchen, breakfasts together and WG cleaning sessions. The landlady allows parties and inviting friends over to hang out.
In my view, the atmosphere was always very friendly, and you have the freedom to interact and to have your private life at the same time.
There is a cleaning schedule, in which every week there's a rotation of shared areas to be cleaned ( Bathroom, corridor, shower room, and kitchen).
The usually used language is English, but Lukas and Anna speak German.
The only Nebenkosten are the trash tax, and the paint job to be done at the end of the stay, all of that result in about 7 € per month, and the washing machine ( 3 € per use).
We are looking for a young person, that is working and/or studying.
