The room is the middle one of the three bedrooms. It's spacious and has two big windows on the eastern side, which makes it very bright. Besides, you won't notice the busy traffic on Sandleitengasse because our flat is located in the courtyard. It has a high ceiling, as is typical of Viennese Altbau.
The flat has a kitchen (no dishwasher, so please be good at hand-washing haha), a bathroom, a toilet and three bedrooms. We don't have a balcony so smoking has to be done outside. Unfortunately, there is no living room either, but my bedroom is open for everyone to use and I want it to be used more as living room in future. So, you are encouraged to come hang out in my room, or to spend time there even when I'm not there:) We could, for instance, get a couch and some plants to make it more cosy and inviting... Also, the corridor is kind of dark and sad at the moment, so I want you to join us in making the flat feel more like home!
The flat is located in the 16th district, close to the forest and the hill. You have a nice view over the city from the hill:) By bike, the city centre can be reached in 10 to 20 minutes. Within walking distance are:
. Public transport: Sandleitengasse (tram and bus), Hernals (S-Bahn, tram and bus) and Ottakring (U-Bahn, S-Bahn, tram and bus);
. Shops: Interspar, Dm, Billa plus, Hofer, Lidl, Turkish shop, etc.;
. A post office.
I'm Atsu, originally from Tokyo but I've been living in Europe for quite some time by now. I'm a maths student who's also enthusiastic about many other things. I enjoy learning languages, cycling fast, eating from metal dishes and hitchhiking to visit my friends all over Europe during holidays. I really like to cook and bake delicious food, mostly with seasonal ingredients and always vegan. Recently a neighbour of ours shared a lot of wild garlic with us, so I made wild garlic pesto for the first time and I was so happy it turned out great! I'm also interested in arts and culture, and I'm a big fan of music in particular. I play the violin and I like to play and perform together with other musicians. I practise two hours everyday, and up to four hours a day during university holidays, so you should be okay with that (I try to practise as much as possible when I'm alone in the flat). Usually, I prefer to cook and to hang out with friends and flatmates at home or at friends' places, rather than going out to drink or to party, for example. But I do enjoy home parties and dinner parties from time to time:)
My flatmate Mahmoud is originally from Syria and he's a cook. He works a lot (also early or late shifts), so he's not home that much. Just like me, he likes to play chess and he challenged me once, and I checkmated him. Since then he hasn't challenged me again XD His German is very good, but he isn't comfortable in English, so we communicate in German. So it would be nice if you speak German, or are at least learning German. (I'm writing this in English just because I think I'm more interesting in English:)) And lastly, he is also planning to move out in the near future.
We're looking for someone friendly, open-minded, easy-going, honest and considerate, who is not only interested to become our new flatmate but also, and more importantly, our new friend. Best if you know how to make vegan food, as it's always fun to hang out with friends and flatmates while cooking. Visits by friends and partners are always welcome and encouraged; it would be nice if we could get to know each other's friends circle! Also, I want to emphasise that socially marginalised people (for example, FLINTA* or LGBTQIA+ folks) are very welcome here<3
If you think it could be a match, just drop me a message here on wg-gesucht introducing yourself. We would appreciate a personalised message which makes it clear that you're genuinely interested to live with us, because we do care who we're going to be living with, and we hope you do, too! We are excited for your interesting messages:)
The move-in date is flexible; anytime from 10 May to 1 June is possible (but the earlier the better).
We're primarily looking for someone who'd stay longer and take over the main tenancy. However, if we don't find a suitable person, we might also look into some short-term solutions, so feel free to write to me anyway!
