*NOTE* : The room is available either from February or March - we can negotiate a move in date!
The room is located in a classic Altbau flat with beautiful parquet floors and high ceilings. It is very very cosy, with ample storage space, quirky decor elements (like a the open closet and the bookshelf) and a super comfortable Hochbett. On the Hochbett, there is space on side for whatever you might need when up there :) It fits a double mattress.
The Hochbett, shelf and table have been built by a friend of ours when I moved in, it's very impressive handywork with creative solutions to make use of all the space available. The walls have been freshly repainted as well. I would leave everything intact for you: you'd have the Hochbett with the bookshelf underneath, the table, the little armchair, wardrobe, the mirror.
The room is great value for money, I don't think it's possible to have such a compact, homey and cute little space for so little anywhere else in Vienna ;)
The flat is located 5 minutes away from the Ubahn (U6 Nussdorfer Strasse and U6/U4 Spittelau) and right next to tram station Glatzgasse (the 37 and 38 lines bring you in 15 minutes to Schottentor, the U2 metro line and the Ringstrasse in the city centre). We have Spar, Billa and Hofer nearby, as well as a Turkish supermarket open til late, a nice cafe right across the street (great breakfast), a pub downstairs and the Währinger Park like 5 minutes away on foot. Most places are easily accessible from the flat by bike too, and if you are a runner, you are in luck: getting to the Donaukanal is very quick from here, or running in Döbling or Grinzing can also be really nice!
It is a very tight-knit, close community in this WG. We enjoy cooking and having nice meals together (vegetarian or vegan!) amidst long chats and political debates over a few glasses of wine. That said, everyone has busy lives juggling university studies and jobs, so we all respect each others' privacy in busy periods.
You'd be living with Elise, a very friendly, caring and incredibly funny girl from the US. She's doing her masters in socio-ecological economics at the WU and is teaching English on the side. She likes to paint and always has a nice word for everyone. Your other flatmate would be Alex, Austrian-Polish, studying to be a biology/history teacher. He is a social worker at Caritas and is very passionate about travelling and getting to know new people from all over the world. The third flatmate, Ioana is from Romania and has studied economics. She's very into photography and poetry. She currently doing an internship in Ethiopia but would be back in July. Until then, she'll be subletting her room.
As you can probably tell from these short descriptions, you'd be in for a lot of interesting talks and great veggie meals with these lovely people :) English would probably be the main language of the WG, but Elise speaks good German and would like to practice, so it's your call!
You can contact me on here and then we can take the chat over to whatsapp or text!
Tell us a bit about yourself and we can quickly organise a viewing :)
For visits, evenings are probably the best if you'd like to meet all of us at the same time!
