Offering a lovely, quiet apartment in the heart of Prenzlauer Berg with four-poster bed, large book-lined living room, full kitchen, and easy access to the city.
//THE APARTMENT//
The apartment is perfect for a single person or a couple who want a charming and comfortable base to make Berlin instantly feel like home. We're on the second floor in a beautiful high-ceilinged original Berlin 'Altbau' building and there’s a bakery downstairs so the common hallway is filled with the smell of fresh-baking cakes. Inside the flat, we've decorated with a mix of antique and modern furniture, as well as art and curiosities, so it has lots of character. The apartment measures 85,5 square meters and includes a huge book-lined living room with a piano, oak dining table, and French balcony overlooking the cafes down below; a large bedroom with a curtained four-poster queen-size bed and writing desk; a sunny dine-in kitchen; bathroom with full bath; and entrance hall with storage and coat rack. The kitchen is fully-equipped including a dishwasher and washing machine/dryer. The flat has high-speed wifi internet and phone line. The building itself is safe and very well maintained and we have friendly neighbours. There’s also a courtyard for storing bikes.
//LOCATION//
We’re directly in the heart of Prenzlauer Berg, a vibrant district bordering on Mitte in the east of the city. We’re upstairs from the well-known Anna Blume cafe, and just down the block from the Thursday and Saturday markets at Kollwitzplatz. Quiet, tree-lined Kollwitzstrasse is arguably one of the most lovely streets in the city; we’ve certainly always felt that it is a privilege to live here. The neighbourhood offers bustling pavement cafes, great restaurants, bookshops, children's playgrounds, organic grocers, and independent shops. Mauer Park with its flea market and weekend karaoke is a fifteen minute walk away, just past Kastanienallee with its bars and fashion shops, the famous Prater Garten beer garden, and
the Kulturbrauerei. The flat also has excellent transport connections (U2 Senefelder Platz/Eberswalder Str, M2, M10) so you'll find it easy to get anywhere you want.
//DATES AND WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR//
I am a English and a writer and have been offered an eight-month residency at the Akademie Schloss Solitude near Stuttgart so we will be subletting our apartment during this period. We will be leaving mid-April 2017 and will be away until November 2017 (there is a possibility we may return a couple of months earlier but would give good warning if this were the case). We are looking for someone who would want to take the apartment for this full period. We cannot accept smokers or anyone with a cat and the apartment is not suitable for people who want to flat share. We are looking for a couple or a single person who will be friendly, quiet, and reliable and who will look after and love our home as if it were their own. Be sure to keep quiet after 10pm, please, and no parties allowed. Naturally, finding someone we feel we can rely on is important to us, so please tell us a bit about yourself if you are interested in living here.
//RENT//
The rent is €1490 warm per month and the apartment is fully furnished. This rental price directly reflects our own costs, and the price we pay has been checked with the Berliner Mieterverein. Included in this price are all utilities, TV and radio license fee (obligatory in Germany), building charges. Internet/phone is an additional charge of €45-50 depending on whether you want flatrate European calls or not. There will be an additional cleaning fee at the end of the tenancy. We request two months rent deposit and ask that our tenants show they have Privathaftpflichtversicherung (private liability insurance) and evidence that they are financially stable.
