This studio apartment is a perfect place for solo travelers, couples or groups of two to get the best out of their stay in Munich: It’s in a trendy and central neighborhood, close to the old town and most of the sights but also the Isar river where you won’t even feel like you’re in the city! Due to the perfect location everything is easily reachable either on foot, by bike or public transport.
The second-floor apartment includes a bedroom / living room with dining area, a bathroom and kitchenette as well as a balcony. There is a fold-up bed, so the room can be converted from bedroom to living room by day. As the bed utilizes a regular 140 x 200 cm mattress it offers just the same comfort as a normal double bed.
There are two pillows and one duvet available for guests, so if you‘re traveling with a friend you might want to bring extra bedding. You are free to use the wi-fi (the key is on the bottom of the router) and TV (incl. Netflix & Prime Video) but not the guitars and bicycle.
Please keep in mind the house is badly soundproofed and there are other tenants right on the other side of all walls, so please keep the noise levels down especially after 10 p.m. The other tenants themselves are very respectful in this regard, so you don't need to worry about the noise levels.
The apartment is right at the border between Glockenbachviertel and Gärtnerplatzviertel which are among Munich’s best-loved neighborhoods. There are lots of bars, cafés, trendy restaurants and small shops, so it’s a very enjoyable area both at day and night. Just one and a half blocks away is Gärtnerplatz, a beautiful small square and popular meeting point among locals. Another local favorite is the Isar river which is also just around the corner. Citizens from all across the city like to come here to get a drink from the famous kiosk at Reichenbach bridge (one of the few shops that’s open almost around the clock) and relax in the park by the water. There are plenty of opportunities for going out at night as well, especially in and around Müllerstraße where there are several night clubs.
Glockenbachviertel is just south of Munich’s old town, so most of the main tourist attractions are within walking distance. There’s a nice walking route to Marienplatz in the city center via Gärtnerplatz square and the Viktualienmarkt market place. Aside from that public transport is just perfect with several underground and tram lines next door. However, since Munich is small and very cyclist-friendly the best way to explore it is by renting a bike through the city’s excellent bike sharing app (MVG More) for just a few cents per minute. There are bike paths on both sides of the river where you can cycle all the way to the English Garden in the north or the stony beaches at Flaucher in the south. And if you want to go on a trip outside of Munich, the central station is just two train stops away.
I rent my apartment out when I’m traveling abroad, so I won’t be in Munich during your stay. In case you need assistance you can contact me anytime by phone or online, of course, and I’ll be happy to help you out. Please be extra careful not to lose the apartment key as I won’t be able to let you back in before the end of your stay.
