Dear WG-seekers,
I (Nikita) am moving out of this very comfortable and cozy room to be closer to my boyfriend. This room is spacious, and has high ceiling. Basic furnishing will be included in the room and should be taken over by the next person. Furnishing includes a bed (€30 included in Ablösevereinbarung), mattress, storage unit (€50 included in Ablösevereinbarung), table and chair, and a big wardrobe (€80 included in Ablösevereinbarung). What is not included in the Ablösevereinbarung is free of charge.
It is usually quiet in the room as the balcony overlooks the inner garden. The room has an attached bathroom, which is shared. So expect your friendly flatmates to knock at your door in the evening. This has not been a problem for me, or the previous flatmate who gave me this room (I was in the other room before and moved into this room when she moved out)
If you know Darmstadt, you know how beautiful the Martinsviertel is!
If you don't know Darmstadt: Martinsviertel is one of the most beautiful places in Darmstadt and is the pub district. It's right next to the city center and has everything you need for living.
50 meters from our apartment is Riegerplatz, where there is an ice cream parlour, cafes and restaurants. Some events take place from time to time, and there is also a weekly farmer's market on Wednesday mornings where you can buy vegetables, cheese and sausages. The tastiest bakery in town is also in the immediate vicinity of the apartment (2 buildings away!).
For shopping there is Rewe and Penny in the area, if you drive a little further (5 minutes by bike) you also have an Aldi (near Waldspirale) and a Tegut. There is also an package drop off/pick up spot within walking distance.
I walked to the ULB, Herrngarten and for my classes at TU in the city center in about 7 - 12 minutes. In another 5 minutes you can reach the city center (Luisenplatz). It takes 15 minutes by bike to get to the TU Lichtwiese and 10 minutes to get to the hda.
The H bus stop (Taunusplatz) is 3 minutes from the apartment. Bus runs every 10 minutes through the city center to the main train station (15 min).
The nearby Bürgerpark is ideal for relaxing or exercising, where you can go jogging, play baseball or work out at the outdoor gym. The park also has a swimming pool and an ice skating rink.
I could list many other advantages of the location, but this gives you a good overview.
Our WG consists of three people. You would live with Amira (doing her masters at TU Darmstadt) and Malik (former TU DA student, now an architect).
During the day we are usually busy and everyone goes their own way and in the evening we meet again in the flat. We sometimes do something together over the weekend like playing games in the evening over a beer. Of course, we would be happy if you would also take part, but if you need some peace and quiet, that's no problem either.
It is particularly important to us that the apartment remains smoke-free, of course you can smoke in the garden like a chimney.
I really enjoyed hanging out with them in the kitchen in the evenings as we cooked together. We also have a cleaning plan we follow every weekend without fail, and would expect the next flatmate to participate in keeping the WG clean.
The kitchen has all the usual kitchen appliances, we even have a dishwasher. The cozy couch invites you to linger in the kitchen. :-)
Note: As mentioned before, the bathroom (shower and bathtub) is a trapped space. The passage will be through the room you will be taking over. The experiences of the past few years have shown that this is not a problem. The toilet is accessible from the hallway. There is also a balcony overlooking the garden. The garden is a communal garden that can be used by everyone.
We look forward to hearing from you!
P.S. We are aware that we will get many messages, so apologies in advance if we cannot answer to everyone. We would be happy to know your answer to the below questions as part of your introduction:
1. What would your friends say about you? (Don't lie!)
2. Do you like Coriander in your food?
