Room in new 2er WG in Altbau in Friedrichshain!

Today was a big day for me; just signed the lease to my very own flat in Berlin! And since I am a big fan of the 'shoot for the moon' mentality, I was thinking, why not try and make it an even better day by getting in contact with my future roommate too.

I would like to start with just sharing a bit about myself. I strongly believe that when you live in a 2 person flat-share, the person you are living with is of a bit more importance than the actual flat itself. So, although I know this is going to be a long ad (sorry in advance haha), I do hope you take the time to properly read through it all and carefully consider whether I as a person, as well as the living situation that I am offering, are what you are looking for. I know the housing situation here in Berlin is brutal and looking for a flat sucks, but please, just send me a message if you really expect 'us' to work. No point in wasting each others time!

Alright, so my name is Wiep (F23). I was born and raised in the Netherlands, and I moved to Berlin last October to start with my Masters Bioinformatics at the FU - which I am really enjoying so far.
As for a bit of a personal profile; I think the description "all about smiles and positivism, in a not-too-hippie way" suits me rather good. I have an upbeat personality, love spontaneity (sometimes a bit too much, but ah well, that makes for good stories at least) and I, of course, very much enjoy good company.
Next to my studies I work 20 hours per week in Customer Support, so my schedule is pretty regular and packed. To balance out all the busyness, I love to do sports and outdoorsy stuff. Hiking, cycling, running, climbing, swimming, camping, you name it.

I've had very good experiences with flat shares. I love how in a WG you have the company of people you like and with whom you can have a good conversation/share about your day/bitch about the weather, additional to being able to have your own routine and personal space. The classic 'alles kann, nichts muss' idea basically. I'd love to be able to share a bowl of popcorn and watch a movie together from time to time, enjoy a morning coffee together (not that I expect you to be all social and fun in the mornings - I know I am not), or go grab a drink somewhere.

Grabbing a drink, or a döner or a whatever should be no problem - the location of the flat is amazing. It is just a 10 minute walk to Boxhagener Platz and the Simon Dachstrasse! Everything you need (shops/gym/public transportation) is within a few minutes walking.

The flat is a true Berlin style Altbau. But like, really. With a creaking wooden floor, gas heating in the kitchen and a functional Kachelofen in your room. Personally I found it super romantic, but I realize that it might be something not everybody likes, so please consider this!

I am offering a fixed contract from 01.03.19 to 31.08.19 for €650 per month with everything included (550 Kalmiete, 100 for internet, gas, water, electricity, coal for the Kachelofen, garbage taxes and everything else). The deposit would be €1100. The fixed contract is to give myself some financial security and you some clearness, if we hit it off we can always extend the contract.

The flat is 60 squared meters in total, so quite big. The kitchen is spacious with enough room for a nice table to enjoy our meals at and the hallway is broad enough to create some sort of storage space.
As I literally signed the contract today, the flat is still completely empty right now (I will be moving in next Sunday, so I'll be sure to share some more pictures when it looks a bit more like an actual home). But my point being: there is more than enough room and freedom to really make the place our own and I am really looking forward to doing so together!

As for the language stuff: my English is fluent, but my German still needs some work. I understand it when it's spoken since it is quite similar to Dutch, but when I speak it myself, it tends to come out as some sort of German-Dutch mixture that, unfortunately, is still a considerable lot more Dutch than German. Work in progress! I would love to be able to practice it some more by living with a German-speaker though.
