I work as a teacher and since my two daughters moved out, I usually rent 1 or 2 rooms to language students, normally for a period of 1-3 months. I have about 10 years of experience hosting language students and really enjoy the cultural exchange (you don't have to be a language student to rent the room though).
At the moment one of our rooms is available for rent, starting in January and for a period of 3 months (+/- 1 month is also possible).
The room is ca 10qm small, and fully furnished (as you see in the photos), is has a bed, nightstand, wardrobe, mirror, table, lamps, chair, and a book shelf. It is quiet and sunny in the morning. Smoking is not allowed in the room, if you smoke you will have to go downstairs for that (we live on the 5th floor though with no elevator).
You will get blanket / pillows / sheets etc. and towels. Common rooms are the bathroom, guest toilet, kitchen, we have a washing machine, and a dish washer.
The flat is very well connected with public transport. It is located on the U9 at U Turmstraße or U Birkenstraße (both 5 minutes by foot). Is is only 1 bus stop from the central station with the TXL bus, the same bus also goes directly to Alexanderplatz. By U-bahn its only 2 stops to Zoo, and the Ringbahn is 1 stop away (Westhafen). There are lots of supermarkets and some nice bars and cafes. The river is only 5 minutes away and the Tiergarten is very close.
It will be me in the flat and we will get another female language student from the Goethe-Institute for January.
Since I am a 'guest family' I am always there to help you and answer any questions or to speak German with you if you wish to improve your German. The amount of interaction depends usually on the guest, how much they wish to talk or if they prefer to stay in their room/stay outside, for me both is fine.
Normally everyone cooks separately, you will get your own space in the kitchen and in the fridge.
Please write an email (English or German as you prefer) with a little bit about yourself, what you are doing and why you are in Berlin and how long you would like to rent the room. My daughter Jana will get back to you as soon as possible. It will be possible to visit the room if you like.
