I am looking to rent out a bedroom (roughly 20 square meters) in my big and sunny apartment in Neukölln. The room is currently half-furnished with a bed frame (but no mattress), a walk-in closet, an arm chair and a rocking chair. Walls are turquoise and not in best shape, therefore can be changed. Furniture can also be moved if you’d prefer to bring your own stuff.
The rest of the apartment is “my space”, meaning I am not looking for someone to bring furniture for the living rooms or to redecorate :) If you respect my stuff of course that place can be shared I just don’t want to reorganize my space. There are two sunny balconies that I use for fun and for planting veggies & flowers (I unfortunately didn't have summer pics of the balconies available but if it's important to you I'll sort through my external drives ;-)).
There are two bathrooms to be shared and one kitchen. My kitchen is equipped with lots of kitchen gear which can be shared if treated nicely (Vitamix, food processor, dehydrator etc.). There is not much room for your own kitchen stuff but I am sure there are ways to make it work if you’d prefer your own. My request for using my stuff is cooking vegan only though.
Buses and trains are easily accessible. 5 minutes walk to get to bus line M41, 10 minutes to U7 Karl-Marx-Straße and Ringbahn S Sonnenallee.
My requests for an ideal room mate are:
- Ideally vegan. Vegetarian works, too. Flexitarian works if you don’t consume meat at the apartment. (I work in animal protection and I don’t want to come home to meat being cooked - it would go against everything I do all day.)
- Animal-friendly. I share the place with my seven year old dog that I adopted from the streets in Portugal. Given her difficult history she is not a happy go lucky dog and unfortunately very territorial. You would have to agree to work on that with me so she will accept you into our home. If you like to have friends over frequently, we also need to sort things out so things run smoothly. (Happy to explain more if you’re seriously interested).
- Clean person, who will participate in apartment cleaning - but also needs to be OK with dog hair - it is impossible to always clean after her.
- Ideally a relatively calm person. I have a full-time job and I value my sleep. :)
- No homophobia, racism, sexism. No assholes :)
- Non-smoker.
- I’d like to have a friendly and open atmosphere at home. If there are issues, I’d like them to be addressed as quickly as possible.
- With my current roomie we regularly hang out in the kitchen, have tea together, talk about life etc. While this is no must have, I would like things to be easy-going, friendly and open.
- Looking for someone who will agree to a fixed contract at first (3-6 months) to see if we can make it work together and with my dog. If all runs smooth, very happy to extend.
- If you are someone who is just looking for a place during the week we can discuss paying less rent in return.
Some stuff about myself:
Vegan, 33 years. Yoga+meditation, running, bouldering, biking. Cooking & healthy living. I love being outdoors and most of my apartment decoration consists of nature photography, plants, drift wood etc. I have some California history. Very happy about internationals and speaking English at home. I do go out sometimes but this has become more rare. On weekends I mostly exercise, go out with my dog and meet friends. I also value me time with music and creative stuff at home.
