Habitación

Hello,

There is a furnished room available for a six-month lease in Ceciliengärten, Schöneberg, from 1.7.2023 until 31.12.2023. The rent is € 850 warm, with no extra costs. I am the main tenant – the friend who was planning to move in has had to return to Canada at short notice, so I’m looking for a replacement. As well as the room, there is a bathroom, storage cupboard, kitchen and large hall. There is also a lot of storage space. The Wifi could be faster but it is fine for normal usage. I’ve lived here for six months and I love it.

The apartment is on the ground floor of an historic Expressionist housing estate from the 1920s, built for artists and other cultural figures. My house was completely rebuilt after the war, though. There’s a very pretty public garden at the front with roses, cherry trees, statues and fountains - absolutely perfect when there is sun. It is very well ventilated and insulated (cool in the summer, hot in the winter). The description says “ground floor” but actually the windows are raised above head height and set back – no one can see inside and all of your darkest habits will remain safely hidden. The neighbourhood has a quiet, leafy character with gorgeous old streets, singing birds and quaint city parks.

Public Transport:
Innsbrucker Platz (Ringbahn, S46 and U4) - 6 minutes walk
Friedenau (S1) - 6 minutes walk
Bundesplatz (Ringbahn and U9) - 14 minutes walk
It is also 2 minutes away from a bus stop on Hauptstraße with buses straight to Mitte and other places

Supermarkets:
Big Lidl - 6 minutes walk
Small Edeka - 8 minutes walk
Big Edeka - 12 minutes walk
Little Rewe - 13 minutes walk (quicker by bus)
Big Rewe - 18 minutes walk (quicker by bus)

There is also a friendly Späti within 2 minutes’ walk, as well as a traditional Berliner pub with a fire, a food market on Saturdays and plenty of cafes/restaurants/other amenities.

About me: I’m a 28m British historian who moved to Berlin earlier this year – hence my poor German (I do actually speak some Russian though!). I’m a calm, easy-going person with a lively sense of humour. When I’m at home, I enjoy cooking with a podcast or reading. While I do sometimes have people over, I prefer to go out of the house to socialise. I treat the apartment as my bolthole, where I go for peace. I’m tidy and it would be nice if you were too - but at the same time a home is for living in and I'm far from obsessive about cleaning.

About you: I’m looking for a person roughly my age (25-35) who is similarly calm/relaxed and preferably doing something interesting in life. It would be nice if we became friends but I know that plenty of people just want to be left alone in their own space – that is also fine.

So, please write to me with a bit about yourself and any questions you might have. I look forward to hearing from you!
