Hey there! We are writing from a wonderful house in Kirchentellinsfurt. Unfortunately, one of our crew members has left us recently, so we have an empty room from now on. The date of your moving-in is rather flexible.
The room is very spacious (20m²) and located on the ground floor. It is very bright with a window and a big glass door leading to the garden, as you can see in the images. The floor is parquet from genuine wood. If it gets too warm in the summer, you can close the blinds or shutters. The red armchair is from our landlady and is quite cosy for reading.
The whole house from the basement to the attic is ours! We have an enormous kitchen with loads of equipment (including a bread cutter, a waffle maker, and most importantly a dishwasher).
In the basement, we have a washing machine and a drier. Lots of tools to fix anything. We have refurbished one room in the basement which we commonly use as a living room to watch movies on a projector or play board games.
Some of us are into climbing, but during the pandemic, we couldn’t go to the gym… That’s why we have built our own bouldering wall on the attic, that you can also use.
And now the coolest part - our garden. We have a huuuge garden with a tea house, a grill, a hammock, and a shed for our bikes. In summer, we frequently have barbecues here. There are also cherry, plum, and apple trees.
We live in Kirchentellinsfurt (K'furt for short), a village 10km east of Tübingen. There is a good connection to Tübingen only taking 6 minutes by train. The trains are very regular - every half hour (except for at the weekend). There are also buses during the night. Some of us are cycling enthusiasts, and there is a picturesque cycling route along the Neckar from our house to Tübingen city centre which takes about 25 minutes.
There are lots of supermarkets (Aldi, Kaufland, Penny, DM) and also a bakery in the village. It is close to some forest and fields, which is nice for a walk or run. But the best feature of the village is probably the lake, where you can swim and chill in the summer!
We are a pretty international crowd. Ariadna is from Catalonia, Byoungsoo from South Korea, Georgy is from Russia and Tobi from Germany. Ari is studying English Literature, and Byoungsoo studies Computational Neuroscience, both in their Masters. Georgy and Tobi are doing their PhDs in Neuroscience at the Max Planck Institute.
Occasionally we do movie nights in our cosy room in the basement and we are always open to film suggestions.
We regularly cook together, and in the summer it's convenient to have barbecues in the garden. With five people our kitchen can get a bit messy at times, but we all don't like when that happens, so it won't be for long.
All in all, we are a pretty active and social crowd, discussing a lot in the kitchen (about research or politics or anything) and we are looking for an open person and curious person who integrates well into this environment :)
We are happy to do an online interview, but of course, you can come and see everything in person :)
