The room is about 17 m2 and receives sunlight in the afternoon and in the evening. In comprises a wooden loft bed, a sofa and a spot to hang your bike on the wall. My flatmate will take the rest of his belongings throughout the month of September.
The kitchen is a bit dark, but well decorated and quite cosy. We do what we can to keep it cute and clean, which makes a strong difference. There are several plants here and there ; I'm planning to buy more.
There's a loft bed in the kitchen for guests, but no ladder to climb onto it. It is quite hard to get there ; building a ladder for that bed is one of my eternally postponed goals. Another thing which I (we?) should build is a storage for unused objects. We've already got the material for that ; all we need is a bit of time.

Das Zimmer ist etwa 17 m2 und bekommt Sonnenlicht nachmittags und abends. Es ist mit einem Holzhochbett und einem Sofa eingerichtet. Louis wird den Rest der Möbel mit sich im Laufe des Monates (September) mitnehmen. Es gibt eine Stelle an der Wand, um Fahrräder abzustellen.
Die Küche ist etwas dunkel, dafür aber gemütlich eingerichtet und ziemlich sauber. Man sitzt auf Kissen auf dem Boden und isst an einem kleinen Holztisch. In der Küche befindet sich auch ein Hochbett für Gäste ; es gibt aber noch keinen Leiter, der dazu führt. Das müssen wir noch aufbauen ;)
Man muss noch einen Schrank im Badezimmer aufbauen, um unbenutzte Gegenstände lagern zu können. Ansonsten gibt es auch einen Schrank im Eingangsbereich für Werkzeuge.
The place is great. I love this street ; it has a very peculiar atmosphere. Right in front of us, there's the so-called Gießer 16, a semi-official occupied post-industrial building with political claims. They organises quite a lot of events, including book fairs and other stuff.
You don't have to walk long to get into nature. The Jahrtausenfeld is located approximately 150 meters away from our flat. We're at the beginning of the Gießerstraße, close to the intersection with the very lively Karl Heine Straße.
The flat is on the ground floor and both rooms face the street ; better closing the windows at night, because there's quite a lot of trafic in the early morning.
There's a kind of bar right next to our flat ; I've never understood their opening times. Sometimes they're open and a lot of people sit there on the ground. Behind the Gießer 16, there's a sort of graffiti zone, where people sometimes play music at night in the sommer.

An sich ist dieser kleine Teil der Gießerstraße ein Mikrokosmos des Leipziger alternativen Lebens. Ein paar Meter weiter gibt es die Graffiti Area, wo es im Sommer ab und zu Musik gibt.
Die Wohnung befindet sich im Erdgeschoss, am Anfang der Gießerstraße, nah an der Überkreuzung mit der Karl-Heine Straße. Drüben gibt es die Gießerstraße 16, ein Hausprojekt mit gelegentlichen Veranstaltungen wie Buchmessen etc. Sie haben auch einen kleinen Laden für politische Bücher an der Ecke ;)
Neben unserer Wohnung gibt es eine Bar, deren Öffnungszeiten ich noch nie wirklich verstanden habe. Sie sind aber sehr freundlich und die Stimmung ist dort angenehm.
In a flat for two people, the most difficult thing is to find the right distance. In my experience, being independent from each other, yet respectful of each other, is the most important basis. It is important that each of us has got a social, professional and intellectual life outside of the flat, and that the flat does not become a substitute for it. The less we have to see each other, the more we will enjoy seeing each other.
There are three closets for food. One for each of us, and one for the stuff which we decide to share. I'm not a fan of food-communism ; in this area and in many others, I tend to lean towards realism. The same system goes for the fridge, which is separated in two, with the bottom box for occasional spontaneous sharing.
We clean once a week and it makes an important difference. There's no dishwasher, so we need to wash the dishes straight after lunch. I'm quite tidy and I don't really like stuff hanging around, but I guess it's not the end of the world if you leave your dishes for a couple hours, provided they don't accumulate.
