Hello everyone!

My name is Colin, and I'm happy to say I moved into a beautiful flat in the Giesing district of Munich in October. I used to live next door to this flat, though due to construction, I was luckily offered the next-door flat, which I excitedly took.

Why was I excited to be offered the flat? Because I love living in this flat and neighbourhood. It's a neighbourhood that people move into and never leave, with easy access to everything in Munich (about 5 minutes by foot to Wettersteinplatz, and from there it's about 7 minutes to Fraunhoferstrasse (the hipster entertainment, arts and queer district) or 9 minutes to Sendlinger Tor or HbF. The neighbourhood itself is great - there's easy access to all of the best of Munich, from easy bike access to the Flaucher (where I would go almost daily in the summer), Perlacher Forst, as well as easy access by foot to München Ost and the greater Giesing area, which gives sort of quasi-Berlin-meets-Vienna vibes with great niche bars and restaurants, art galleries, and local community activities.

The building itself was built in the 1930s, though the bathroom was remodelled in the 2010s and am currently in process of installing kitchen (was not used to this culture in Germany of having to install one's own kitchen, though process shall be finished in October). That being said, there is a common room with a TV and little sofa, a table for eating and entertaining, and an AMAZING backyard garden. There is no balcony, unfortunately, though the backyard is often used for community BBQs and dinners, and in the winter there's even a little pop-up snow bar that is there on snowy days.

Your room is about 15 square meters, with beautiful hardwood heritage floors, as well as a little closet.

Me, I'm a 29-year-old from the US originally though lived long-term in Canada (English and French), as well as Japan; I've been in Germany now for about 3 years total. As such, my German is actually quite decent (C1ish), it just takes me a bit longer to write things out in German. I'm outgoing and relatively social and would love to not only meet your friends, though introduce you to my friends and community for dinners and other get-togethers. I don't frequently have guests, though it would be great to have a flatmate who is flexible with the occasional friend sleeping on the couch, etc. In my free time, I'm generally out and about doing stuff, and want to get more active in sports and the outdoors (2020/2021 were hard on me and I became a bit of a homebody, though in the past months I've been emerging from that). I also love to cook and enjoy a beer with my flatmate.

Flat comes with access to a storage room full of everything that might be needed (tents, hammocks, sleeping bags, even cooking equipment from a pasta maker to a blender) - anything you might need to get the most of your time in Munich.

I'm looking for someone who is really hoping to get the most of their life here in Munich, and is hoping to stay in Munich long-term. I've spent the last chunk of my time in Munich living with people who were only temporarily in Munich, and as such, it would be great to live with someone who can really help contribute to the house and my life in Munich and is independent in this sense.

I'm not super picky with cleaning, though I like to keep things tidy; as long as we don't get in one another's way (ie, dishes), it's what's important for me.

There is some furniture if needed while you transition - it's a bit old (ie, the mattress) which I left for some family visitors, so if you are bringing your own that would be great (and even better if you can help me toss some of the old stuff). Also, if you have a comfy sofa, let me know.

Excited to get your messages, and shall be uploading pictures soon. The current picture is an identical room in the previous flat (Though this flat has been freshly painted white).

Feel free to reply in German.
