The current tenant of this 53 m² flat, i.e. me, is finishing his thesis and plans to graduate soon. Therefore, I am looking for someone to take over the tenancy contract for the whole flat and is willing to sub rent to me. Normal subtenancy rules apply, the agreement must be approved by the property management (Hausverwaltung).
In this apartment, three rooms are currently configured for two tenants and a living room. The largest room (20 m²), available in September 2020 comes with a lofted bed to give you full use of the space if you choose to keep it. Also for your use is a desk, the tenant should consider a chair and wardrobe. The room is facing north and towards the main street, and it offers plenty of fresh air throughout the day. The living room is also facing north and is a shared area, electronics might move out with the second tenant. The smaller room (13.2 m²) is currently occupied and is facing south, towards the backyard and it has a single window. The kitchen and bathroom are facing south as well. All rooms are equipped with a heater.

The apartment building has a mixture of families, WG-housing, and single residents. The backyard is for common use and you'll frequently see tenants reading, taking the sun, or grilling. There are 2 coin-operated, shared laundry machines for the building. Parking is possible but sparse in the adjacent streets.
This is a centrally located apartment at the end of Mittelstaße, within walking distance to the city center, the Ernst-Abbe-Hochschule (EAH), or the main buildings of the Friedrich Schiller University Jena, as well as the research institutes of the Beutemberg Campus. The nearby bus stop (3 min) has frequent arrival and departures. Jena West train station is 8 minutes by foot away, with frequent train connections to Erfurt, Göttingen or Nuremberg, and daily connections as far as Düsseldorf. Two supermarkets, children's parks, lotto stores, Späti, pharmacy, bars and restaurants complement the social offer in the vicinity of the apartment.
I am currently finishing my Ph.D. thesis, and while the defense date is still in the air it should be in January or February 2021. Therefore I would be interested in transferring the rental agreement as main tenant, and sub renting my current room until my next step becomes clearer. Utilities contract with the Stadtwerke and internet (O2) are under my name as well.
