Hello and welcome to the end of your flathunt 🍀
We are planning to start a new WG from the 1st of June 2024 (or sooner) and are currently in the application process for an amazing flat in Charlottenburg. We, that is Anna and Mark, started to look for flats that are suited for 5 people and met two lovely people on the way. Thus, we are looking for one more flatmate to complete our quintet - and that might be just you! :) If you're a couple looking for a room in a shared flat, that is also possible. The room and the rest of the flat are definitely big enough to house both of you :)
The room that would be yours is the biggest of the flat. It has 27 sqm with a private balcony to the backyard, very bright and calm. The flat has a super big common area with a new kitchen that invites to hang out and have endless conversations, as well as a big common balcony that is ideally suited for yoga sessions or a drink in the sunset. Further, there are three bathrooms - queueing seems very unlikely! With that many benefits there is one drawback which is the rent. Divided by the varying size of the room that would be around 1050€ warm.
The apartment is just a couple of minutes to the U7 (station Mierendorffplatz) by foot, and in less than 10 minutes walking you're at the station Jungfernheide and can take the Ringbahn. It is also quite close to the Spree and Castle Charlottenburg if you fancy a walk - and if you have more time you can check out the close Grunewald for a hike or long run.
The four of us all started independently to look for bigger flat shares, as we all enjoy the company of our flatmates. Since everyone is working during the day, we like to chat in the evening over dinner, do (acro) yoga session on our soon to be balcony, or have fun building some furniture for our future home. Of course, there are some days we might recharge with some alone time and stay in our rooms (life has its ups and downs :) )
Anna (30y):
I studied medicine and am currently doing my PhD in infectious diseases and vaccine research here in Berlin. So I spend most days of the week in my lab, but sometimes I do remote work as well. Whilst I love doing all the nerdy data science that comes with my work, I enjoy my time off doing yoga, acro-yoga and dancing and would love to do some shared yoga sessions on our new huge rooftop terrasse. I spent the last 10 years living in different WG constellations and I really loved living in a bigger flat, spontaneously meeting in the kitchen after work, spending Saturday mornings on the balcony with 1-5 coffees and discussing politics or nonsense about which vegetable is the most aesthetically pleasing.
Mark (24y):
As Anna I am currently doing my PhD - in the same department, but with a bioinformatic focus. This means that I am also in the lab during workdays. Besides that, a major part of my life are sports. I love running, swimming, and bouldering and especially in the summer I try to squeeze in as many beach volleyball or tennis sessions as possible. Further, I love to test new stuff – that’s why I fell in love with Urban Sports. I have lived in different WGs over the last years and came to appreciate spontaneous dinners and random kitchen talks. Another reason why I am so enthusiastic about the flat we were viewing is the open kitchen that is inviting for exactly that.
As I mentioned we already found 2 further flatmates, which are (soon) working in Berlin. I think it is safe to say that you will like them if you like us by our description 😁
