Calm vegan home, nerds & cats (Well connected /w S-bahn)

The location is both quiet and well-connected. We are right on top of trams 16 and 8, as well as on S7 which goes all the way through Berlin and Potsdam. S-Ostkreuz via S-Bahn is a 19 minutes commute and to get to S-Alexanderplatz it takes about 30 minutes. Supermarkets, discounters, banks, various doctors and the post office are all within 5 minute walking distance. Also the tram directly connects to Ikea which has been a blessing for us :D

We have a large park & a calisthenics area nearby and a generally quiet neighborhood. The area has been getting a lot of student rentals lately so there have been renovations to parks and event spaces. Other then students you will mostly encounter young families and some elders, so overall it is unusually quiet around here for Berlin standards at least. :D

The WG houses the 2 of us 💑 and our 2 cats 🐈. We are Derya (f, 24, Turkish), and Max (m, 29, German) an engaged couple living here for the past 5 years. We like no-drama, enjoy the little things, and love the mundane kind of life. We live a mostly frugal lifestyle. The household is strictly vegan and non-smoker. This is non-negotiable.

I am a painter and in the last year of my university. We both work online, in our respective rooms. Our home is quiet. We keep things clean as much as having 2 cats allows. Max is a consultant. I work in fine arts. The cats work as emotional support and house overseers.
We love D&D, video games, fantasy books, and series... I guess you can imagine. Max likes movies (a lot, like analysis and stuff), online games, working out and health, music, LOTR... I like traditional arts, late philosophy, home decor, classic aesthetics, books...
I would describe our general life and attitude as calm, cozy, and homey.

We are not looking for someone like us necessarily but rather someone who can live with us. Co-existence and harmony matter to us.

Here are some things you might like about our home:

☕ I have a dozen different types of tea and I am happy to have a cup with you every day and chat.
📚 I also love books and philosophy so we can switch books and discuss.
🏃‍♀️ We have exercise equipment at home. I can list them for you.
🎮🐉 Max loves co-op games and I am a dungeon master for D&D.
🍿 We like to cook something fancy once in a while and have a movie night.
🎨 I paint and teach painting as a job! If you are interested, I am happy to show you how to draw and paint.
🧵🌱 We have a sewing machine for fixing things. I like houseplants and if you do too, we can take care of many together and make your room into a little jungle. I always have a couple to just hand out to decorate your room.
🏋️‍♀️🧝‍♂️ Max LOVES LotR and will watch it with you, again. He also likes to work out a lot and we have home equipment if you feel like trying out some weightlifting - not for me :p
📑 He also knows his way around paperwork and helped me with it when I came here more than half a decade ago. So we are capable of assisting.

*We normally wouldn’t mention this at all because we don’t think it should matter. But for some people, it matters: Max is a Christian. I am an atheist. We are co-existence-minded people and we won’t even ask about your beliefs or politics unless you want to share. But people from both religious and non-religious walks of life have told us that this is a deal breaker for them. So we disclose it just in case you would rather know.*

All in all, we are peaceful and family-like. We want a housemate we can trust and share a home with whether it's a worker seeking Berlin opportunities, or a student moving out or a migrant new to Germany... Come as you are!

When it comes to applications, we get a lot of spam that did not read what we wrote. Those are naturally skipped. To not get mixed into these messages, we recommend mentioning some stuff about yourself and about what is mentioned here. Like our non-negotiables about vegan/non-smoking or how you feel about living with cats. Maybe your expectations and lifestyle or how you think you will fit in here... We aren't scared of long messages AT ALL. We are quite selective and really take our time with finding the right fit so write as much as you like 😊

Info regarding Anmeldung/Registration:

If you do NOT require a Registration/Anmeldung:

Deposit: 500 €

Minimal rental time: 3 months

If you DO require a Registration/Anmeldung:
Rent: 500 €
Deposit: 1500 €
Trial period: 1 month
Minimum rental time: 12 months

(In both cases, utility bills are included in the rent.)

If you need to register (Anmeldung), we must contact the housing association on your behalf. They will not accept more than one Anmeldung change within 12 months thus you will have to commit to staying here for at least that amount of time.
They will also charge an additional service fee, resulting in a slightly higher rent overall (see above).
Since we are tenants ourselves, we are merely subletting the apartment and therefore don't have the authority to offer Anmeldung/Registration on a whim.
Should you require one we can request an official Anmeldung/Registration after a trial period of at least 1 month vouching for you as a "reliable" subtenant. However, we are not allowed to hand out rental contracts, since we are the original contract holders. You will always be a vouched-for subtenant even with an official registration.
