The room is about 8 square meters and has a large mezzanine bed to make great use of the limited space, and costs 480 euros a month including electricity, high speed internet, heating, etc. It also comes with a desk and storage space. :)
It sadly doesn’t have a window, but has ventilation through two doors. While we know this isn't optimal, we encourage you to apply if you like the sound of the rest of the flat because room switches can happen often ;)
On top of that, you will have access to a large open kitchen/ living room area along with two bathrooms. We also have plenty of outdoor space with our balcony and access to our rooftop which are amazing during the spring and summer. :)
Transport is super easy with access to Hermannstr. S and U-Bahn about 6 mins away. As it's on the Ringbahn, getting to places is generally a breeze. On top of that, there's plenty of nice grocery stores and cafes in the area and plentiful access to pizzerias, Asian restaurants, and delicious Arabic and Turkish food. We also have some lovely bars within 5 minutes walking distance.
We're a very close-knit group of people that live together and all come from very different backgrounds. We're quite a social house, and like having friends over and hosting events such as open mics, house parties, and dinner parties.
It's imperative that you're good at communicating so we can organise cleaning routines and other household related matters.
You will be living with 5 other people, and so will be a 6 person flat altogether.
Your housemates will be:
- Robin, a German biology student who is very chill, and enjoys seeing the city and going on trips around the world.
- Baran, a musician from Turkey/ the US who also grew up for a long time in China. He currently works at Taqueria El Oso/ Markthalle Pfefferberg. He loves showing us eccentric music, smoking weed, and having intimate chats about anything. He's also a meme lord.
- Atanu (me), from India (but grew up in the US, Germany, and the Netherlands) currently (f)unemployed and loves hosting dinner parties, movie nights, sharing random fun facts, and going to the gym. I LOVE to cook and have an unnecessary amount of kitchen gadgets such as a dehydrator, chamber vacuum sealer, and a sous vide immersion circulator (just to name a few.)
- Lucie, our workaholic queen. She's from France, and works for a... train company, I think? Idk. Anyways, she's very extroverted, friendly, uses ChatGPT as her therapist, loves going out, and gets Uber Eats almost every day.
- Carlos, a Portuguese engineering student who was actually a subrenter for a month who we liked so much that we offered him a permanent room. You will be moving into what is currently his room, as he will move into a bigger one.
Anmeldung IS possible.
We have a preference for girls, non-binary, or LGBTQ people staying on a more long-term basis. We would be less inclined for short-term stays such as people doing a semester abroad here or something. You'd be ideal for this if you're a young, working professional in your mid to late 20s and from an international background, and you plan to stay in Berlin for a while.
There's a deposit of 600 euros for the room that you have to pay which will be returned to you when you leave.
We are looking for a girl, non-binary, or trans person as we're 4 cis men in the flat already. We won't be making an exception regarding this, really sorry :(.
Please message me with any questions you may have and a good introduction of yourself. Please start the message with 'elderflower' so I know that you've read the ad, as we will not be considering people who have not read through the ad properly. We'll make the decision by firstly filtering out applicants that would be a good fit and have clearly read the ad. The filtered out applicants will be sent a link to organise a visit and we'll pick a person out of the ones we've filtered out. The final decision will be made when we find someone we think will be a good addition to the flat. We aim to let you know by April 20th.
We do read EVERY application, but your message will not be considered if you don't pay attention the above information, so please carefully read before applying. Best of luck!
