The room is located on the north wing of the apartment and is big enough to provide ample space for creativity and it faces the lively Hardtgasse.
The whole apartment has 330 m2 and has 13 rooms in which 8 lovely people live. That includes a living room, study room, workshop, guest room, foosball/storage room, kitchen, has 2 bathrooms and 4 toilets, and a never-ending hallway, from one side of the building to the other. While 6 of us already lived together before for more than 2 years, since April we are 8 and together we went through months of renovations, tens of liters of paint, dust, and tons of wood cut in our workshop. A long but not yet finished journey to make this place home.
A lot of potential is also in the garden, that can be used at all times (with respect towards your neighbours) and from next spring you will be able to choose a spot and grow some veggies and greens.
In case you like to build stuff and learn new skills but also live with the values of respect, communication, and nondiscriminatory behavior, this is the place for you.
Unfortunately and with a heavy heart, I must leave the WG that I called home for the past 2,5 years.
The Ubahn station Spittelau is only 5 minutes away, tram 37 right around the corner and Donauinsel 10-15 minutes away with the bike. Around the corner, only 5 minutes away is Währinger Park and Donaukanal down the bridge around Spittelau.
Close by you can also find supermarkets like Spar and Billa, Hofer is one metro station away.
Eugenie is the youngest in the club and writing at the moment her Master's Thesis at Angewandte's Art & Science while occasionally studying Physics and being the best partner for existential debates at a cup of coffee and cigarette at noon, but also life crises at a glass of wine in the evenings. Always curious to learn, and can make her happy with a good book or by preparing breakfast.
Sam, or the pancake machine, likes to get busy. Often in moving, building, organizing, and always on the run somewhere to get involved in some crazy projects. For sure, the Baustelle is his favorite habitat, but also in the kitchen, otherwise he wouldn't have gotten this well-deserved nickname. His best dishes: veggie lasagna and pancakes, of course. Sam likes to bike everywhere, is politically conscious, and is the person who takes care of our finances.
Cathérine studies at Boku landscape architecture together with Bat.
Caddi is a nomad and often on the go as well, traveling either with the commonly owned van Vernon or visiting friends in pretty places. Likes to go climbing, can cook a meal from nothing, and has the best jokes. In the winter you can find her building, painting, cooking comfort food and she is the one to remind you to put on some more layers instead of turning on the heat.
Marie studies Medicine and that can be pretty explanatory. Since this takes a lot of her day, you can make her happy just by keeping the kitchen clean. She is the one who most often bakes cakes for our birthdays and hugs us in the morning. The person who helps you with first aid but also radically sends you to the doctor when we start speculating some self-diagnosis.
Otherwise, she is the shiniest star at parties and the motivating person for Sunday cleaning.
Bat is also studying landscape architecture at Boku and works occasionally at Tüwi. Also on the run the whole day, cooks amazing meals, is a great partner for dancing, and always makes your day better with a good joke. Likes to go on bike trips, to the sauna and you can make him happy if you cook rice properly. Big fan of good red wine and always up for gossip, sports, or a good movie.
Agata is doing her PhD in Astronomy. She is a creative individual and you can always find her crafting, having friends over for dinners, or on the bike going on adventures. Describes herself as an anarchist and always curious to learn new skills.
Pelle is currently finishing his Masters in Psychology. In the summer he likes to go on bike trips, Donauinsel, and is also a great party partner. Has been traveling a lot in the past years but now is ready to settle back in Vienna.
In our home sexism, racism, antisemitism, or any form of discrimination is not tolerated. We share things, food and besides living together, we also share our friend's groups. We live under feminist values, respect our boundaries, and offer each other space when we need it.
We share tasks and responsibilities around the flat and have a weekly cleaning plan and monthly Plenas, where future projects, issues, or tasks are being discussed.
We take care of each other and have often brunches at home.
For the monthly common food that we are sharing, we are sending every month 150 euros to a shared account that everyone has access to. That should be ok for you.
If you feel like you would fit in our community, are creative and engaged, share the same values, and like to learn new skills, drop us a message.
LG,
Ivana and Pension Bettina WG
