2 PhD candidates in Biology looking for a flat

Hi Everyone! We are 2 close friends Onur (30) and Khairy (26). We do our Ph.D. at the Free University, Berlin. Our research topic is quite similar. I work on resistance evolution in pathogens and Khairy works on antimicrobial resistance evolution :). We have both contracts and regular salaries. It would be great for us to find a long term accomodation because we'll be in Berlin at least for a couple of years. We're up to at least 2 room apartments or a suitable WG. But of course, we are open to other possibilities as well.

During workdays, Khairy and I will be at the university, and sometimes we participate scientific conferences. You can check out our intros down below :)

Onur: In my daily life, I like cooking especially I try to learn about different food cultures. Also, I play chess (as well as watching chess videos), go swimming occasionally, and reading books. For the flatshare life, it is nice to meet at dinner, chatting together as flatmates but this is not a must. Being kind and communicative is important to me. Plus, I care about keeping the flat clean altogether!

Khairy: I'm fairly neat and organized, preferring to keep my space tidy and clutter-free. However, I'm also flexible and understanding when it comes to differing cleanliness standards among flatmates. Communication is key for me; I appreciate open discussions about shared responsibilities and any concerns regarding the living environment. As a flatmate, I strive to foster a harmonious atmosphere by being respectful of others' privacy and boundaries while also being sociable and approachable. Whether it's collaborating on household chores, enjoying casual conversations over meals, or simply sharing a laugh, I'm committed to creating a comfortable and enjoyable living experience for everyone in the flat.

Hallo zusammen! Wir sind 2 enge Freunde Onur (30) und Khairy (26). Wir machen unsere Doktorarbeit an der Freien Universität Berlin. Unsere Forschungsthemen sind sehr ähnlich. Ich arbeite an der Entwicklung von Resistenzen bei Krankheitserregern und Khairy arbeitet an der Entwicklung von antimikrobiellen Resistenzen :). Wir haben beide Verträge und regelmäßige Gehälter. Es wäre toll für uns, eine langfristige Unterkunft zu finden, da wir mindestens ein paar Jahre in Berlin bleiben werden. Wir sind bis zu mindestens 2-Zimmer-Wohnungen oder eine geeignete WG. Aber natürlich sind wir auch für andere Möglichkeiten offen.

Während der Arbeitstage werden Khairy und ich an der Universität sein, und manchmal nehmen wir an wissenschaftlichen Konferenzen teil. Unsere Vorstellungsgespräche könnt ihr weiter unten nachlesen :)

Onur: In meinem täglichen Leben koche ich gerne, vor allem versuche ich, verschiedene Essenskulturen kennenzulernen. Außerdem spiele ich Schach (und schaue mir Schachvideos an), gehe gelegentlich schwimmen und lese Bücher. Für das Leben in der WG ist es schön, sich beim Abendessen zu treffen und gemeinsam zu plaudern, aber das ist kein Muss. Ein freundlicher und kommunikativer Umgang ist für mich wichtig. Außerdem lege ich Wert darauf, die Wohnung insgesamt sauber zu halten!

Khairy: Ich bin ziemlich ordentlich und organisiert und bevorzuge es, meinen Raum sauber und frei von Unordnung zu halten. Allerdings bin ich auch flexibel und verständnisvoll, wenn es um unterschiedliche Sauberkeitsstandards unter den Mitbewohnern geht. Kommunikation ist für mich sehr wichtig; ich schätze offene Diskussionen über geteilte Verantwortlichkeiten und jegliche Bedenken bezüglich des Wohnumfelds. Als Mitbewohnerin bemühe ich mich, eine harmonische Atmosphäre zu schaffen, indem ich mich.
