I'm looking for a responsible, non-smoking person to sublet my wonderful flat right in the middle of Mitte. Ideally I'm looking for someone from the beginning of February through the end of July, but the time period is a bit negotiable: you could come in March and leave in May, for instance. You'll need to submit your passport and proof of income to me for me to get my landlord's approval, since this is an above-board sublet arrangement, which is far better for all parties involved.

The basics: this is a studio flat with partitioned-off bedroom area (there are glass panels that close around it, so it doesn't feel so "exposed" as a studio). It's 32 square meters, all of which have been very cleverly used by the architect who renovated this 1960s building in 2003. The building is on Unter den Linden, just steps from the corner with Friedrichstrasse (amazing location), with transport connections to anywhere you might ever want to go, including the north/south and east/west S-Bahn, the U6, the bus directly to and from Tegel, the M1 tram, and many more possibilities. Humboldt University is just down the street. The building has an elevator, and is a mixture of corporate tenants on the lower floors and very quiet (often out-of-town) tenants on the 3rd-6th floors. This flat is on the 3rd floor (American 4th floor).

The flat has a nice sofa, a dining table, a desk, etc. There are also some perks like a Nespresso machine and aeroccino, an Airfryer, a washing machine, floor to ceiling windows facing Unter den Linden, built-in closets and cabinets, a dishwasher, and under-floor heating in the bathroom. There's a humidifier for winter and a high-end fan for when summer hits. Rent, utilities, and high-speed internet works out to 700 EUR a month + a security deposit of 700 EUR.

I've attached a mixture of photos I've taken of my flat as it will be furnished during the sublet and some "stock" photos from the broker who lets the flats in this building-- some areas of the flat are really difficult to photograph once it's got furniture in it, and the stock photos give a better idea of a couple of things about the place. First, they show the sliding frosted glass panels in the flat in various configurations. I always leave both panels shut across the bed area, but they can in fact be slid around to cover the kitchen or the hallway if preferred. Second, the stock photos do a better job of showing the bathroom. I could not seem to get an angle that showed much to speak of myself! Finally, you can see how many closets there are in the bedroom, which I also found hard to photograph. And there's a floorplan in the stock images, which provides a nice bird's eye view of the space.

A few things to note:

1. In the photos you can see I have a low-slung bed in here-- it's actually a traditional Japanese futon on tatami mats. I find this very comfortable, but I'm assuming whoever sublets from me might not-- so I'll put in a raised bed with a regular mattress before the sublet begins, unless my subletter tells me he or she prefers the futon/tatami combo.

2. Second, there's currently U-bahn construction going on at this street corner (you can see it in the photos looking out the window, where beautiful Linden trees used to be a few months ago). I was worried about this initially-- I'm noise-sensitive-- but it hasn't bothered me one bit. There's sometimes the faint hum of machinery, but the windows are so thick that it really doesn't intrude.

3. The kitchen has pretty much everything except an oven. The Airfyer (which you can see sitting on the induction range in the photos of the kitchen) has a convection function, so if I get the urge to make a frittata or roast a duck breast, I do it in there with great results. And there's a microwave, of course.

4. To give you an idea of the scale of the living area: You can see a blue couch in the photos. I'm 5'10" and can stretch out completely on that couch with my arms over my head. It's a long couch! It's pushed away from the wall a bit because my suitcases are behind it, but those will be gone when I am.

5. I'm leaving all my household basics (like towels and such) and my furniture here, but all personal effects will be completely removed. There will thus be lots of storage space available and you'd hopefully not feel like you were living on top of someone else's stuff.

I absolutely love living in this bright little flat, and am happy to answer any questions about it.
