Hi everyone,
My name's Catherine. I am renting out my dorm room because I'll be going away for an internship soon. This room is at least available for you until the end of March 2018 but whether you can continue living here depends on the waiting list of Studentenwerk (the organization in charge of all the dormitories in Cologne for students). I waited for 6 months for this room.
I can guarantee you that this is pretty much the most awesome room with the cheapest price you can get in Cologne. I personally study in TH Cologne and my room is 4 min walking to Line 16 and 8 min to my university!!! I used to travel 2 hours one way to the university, so this place is like a heaven to me now. However, this room is only available for students or interns in Cologne.
Room/Wohnung
You will be living in your single room. The room itself isn't big but has totally enough space for me (and I have a LOT of stuff). It is very clean and has everything you need. I bought some furniture when I moved in and I will leave all of them to you. There will be bed with mattresses (if you don't want to buy new ones, I can leave my pillow, quilt and new sheets etc for you), shoe shelves, closets, study table and chairs... Anyway, you can basically come in with no luggage and settle down here immediately.
The whole building has 2 types of rooms and only mine has an extra balcony with perfect light and extremely beautiful view! I love it! There you can hang up laundries, read a book or just enjoy sunset while getting tanned in the afternoon. There's no buildings outside but green trees.
You will be sharing a huge kitchen and 4 bathrooms (each one has a shower) with other people who live on the same floor. But I have never waited for 1 second to use the kitchen or the bathroom. Since students all have different schedules so you might not see anyone for a long time and seems you own the whole floor. Kitchen and bathrooms will be cleaned daily by cleaning ladies. In the kitchen, you have everything such as 2 big fridges, microwave, oven, toaster, kettle, plates, forks, knives, dining table, your own cabinets and etc. etc... And the water pressure of all the showers in the bathrooms is great!
Elevator is available in the building.
Free parking outside the building
In the basement, there're washing machines and dryers with which you can wash a load for a very cheap price (1 euro something). But you need a student card to start the machine.
In the past 4 months while I live here, It's always nicely quiet and I've enjoyed the full privacy here. Nothing I need to complain about.
But when you need entertainment, you'll have it here as well. In the basement, there's a little free gym open during a certain time each week, tho I've never been there. Every now and then, there're parties in the basement. The perfect part about the basement party is: you can't hear anything in the room in case you want to sleep but in case you are in a mood for a late night, 3 floors down there, it's crazy with DJs and alcohol, and so many people from everywhere.
The best location ever!
As mentioned above, 3-4 min walking to Line 16 and 17 (Station Siegstrasse) and line 16 runs 24/7, so you can stay out as late as you want. from Siegstrasse station with Line 16, it takes around 15 min directly to the center of Cologne and 25min to the central train station/ Hbf/Dom.
Supermarket Lidl is nearby. One station away (2min with line 16) is the a little center called Rodenkirchen. There you have supermarket, banks, restaurants, cafes, and shopping malls. There's even a beach by the river Rhine/Rhein at that station.
The contract will be till the end of March 2018 but it is very possible that you continue living here after March next year.
In total the price for the room is 250 euro, will be paid per month. This price includes 150 euro net-rent set by Studentenwerk and 100 euro for other costs such as the obligatory TV fee (everyone has to pay it in Germany), wall repainting fee (I'll have to do that according to Studentenwerk contact) and for the furniture.
Deposit will be returned within 2 weeks after our agreed rental time is over, of course also when nothing serious is damaged.
You can move in earliest in the morning on 26th June.
If you are interested or need more info about the room, please call me/Whatsapp me to arrange an appointment to check out the room. Email is also ok.
You are welcome to call me another time or more times if I didn't get to pick up the phone (been busy recently). But I might not be able to reply you via email due to too many requests. Thanks for your understanding
Cheers,
Cat
