We are looking forward to welcome you in our cozy home of 74 qm from 1st of October to approximately March 2022. The ending date can vary a little, because Marie hasn't planned her journey back to Berlin.
Our home is located in an old side building, all rooms looking into the backyard which has a nice big tree and some other plants (also in our balcony). The main room is our living room, where we have our cozy area where we have a chat with people or watch movies, listen to music, dance, do workouts and mostly happens everything. Also we have a big dining table where we also sometimes work together. Our balcony has a hammock if you don't mind the cold in the winter. Our kitchen is small but has everything actually from soda stream to dish washer.
The room is furnished with a simple bed, mattress and I will also leave you my beddings (two pillows and two blankets). I also have a small old school table with a comfortable old dining chair and a self-builded rag and wardrobe. Finally there is a vintage commode with two drawers and two boards inside. I can also leave the simple decoration that I have (consisting of a picture, a buddha on the wall above the bed, two rags, little lamps, a laptop table and two pillows.
We live in the centre of Friedrichshain, only 6-7 minutes walking distance to Boxhagener Platz but still in a quite location (we live in the backyard;)). Next U-Bahn is Samariterstraße and Tramstation Niederbarnimstraße (2-3min).
We have a nice little old cinema in our street, a lot of bars and different restaurants (Chay Village and Kong are our favorites). We have a Bio market (Denn's) around the corner and Edeka and dm are close by. At Boxenhagener Platz there is a fresh market on Saturdays and a flea market on Sundays. Also there are many vintage stores, clubs, more vegan restaurants, cafes, nice cinemas and so on around the area.
If the parks (Friedrichshain Volkspark and Treptower Park) are too far, you can relax on our balcony with a tea, coffee or mulled wine.
We found this precious place in March and are both in our master studies in Berlin and Eberswalde. In 2018 we got to know each other while working in a sustainable tourism operator in Cusco, Peru since when we got close friends.
Franzine who is going to share our place with you is doing her masters in International Marketing Management. Apart of being a student, she really enjoys interesting conversations about psychology, visualizations, arts and philosophy. She also likes going out for drinks (eg. a good glass of wine), good food and latin dances. She also likes to travel (more before pandemic times), for example we just came back from an interrail trip. Although we have an entire shelf full of tea, Franzine is a passionate coffee drinker. She also likes asian and spicy food.
Together we like to cook meals at home or eat in the lovely neighborhood, sometimes watch a documentary together, have long conversations, do yoga or dance workouts and go to Vabali. We respect the times where we have to focus on our studies, but also enjoy just living together. We value both a more sustainable and conscious lifestyle, where we try to respect ourselves and our environment.
We would appreciate the following things:
We live plant-based and would appreciate if you wouldn't consume meat or fish in our home. Also we try to reduce waste, so we try to share our food and also use less packaging. We also separate trash (Leergut, Glas, Bio, Rest and Verpackungen).
In your room (Marie's) there are three living plants that would appreciate your care while I am abroad. They just need a weekly water session and some love. I can explain more in detail later. Also I am the owner of the place and will be your paper partner (contract).
We also appreciate some commitment to the mutual comfort, meaning keeping the place clean and tidy. We usually clean the whole apartment all two weeks and share tasks (vacuuming and wiping the floors everywhere, cleaning the kitchen and bathroom entirely and properly). Usually we have the time in mind and discuss about a date fits us both.
We are LGBTQI+ friendly and also do not tolerate any racism and sexism in our space.
We would appreciate a text about who you are and how you imagine your time here together and in Berlin. For having a chat we can offer you to visit us or have a video call on 21st, 22nd and 23rd of September. Please come with a mask.
