About the room: The warm room is 27,5m2 and flexibly furnished with 140cm bed (a second 90cm cabinet-bed also available), hanging clothes bar, shelving, mirrors, thick carpet, desk with chairs, etc. 690€ all inclusive (utilities: electricity, heat, water, etc.) with only extra monthly payment toward our shared groceries. Returnable deposit is 2070€. Room is in good Altbau condition, real wooden floors, two gas heaters under two large windows looking out onto our pretty and quiet street, fourth floor so plenty of light available.
About the building and neighborhood: There are six bedrooms in this 168m2 big apartment on the fourth floor of an old building. Neighbors are all friendly folk we sometimes mingle with, one with a sweet floofy dog. Nearby is the lovely Spree River, near the Tiergarten Park, on a quaint side road up from the Moabit "Bear" Bridge. The train station Bellevue (one stop from Hauptbahnhof) and U-Bahn Turmstraße and several bus lines are all within just a couple blocks away. As we're central, all four Berlin universities and academies are easily reachable. Otherwise, there is whatever else generally needed close by: bakeries, five supermarkets, three Turkish markets, Indian Market, Volkshochschule, print shop, haircutter, cafés, banks, pubs and restaurants, and several imbiss down the street. We live between the courthouse and prison, so relatively little graffiti or crime.
About the WG and us: There are four of us now in this non-smoking vegetarian apartment. Ocean (9 in May) is a supercute bilingual boy who loves learning, climbing, water-sliding and swimming, and kit-building. Nathan (47) dad from the USA has a small moving business (truckandman.com), is a decent amateur handyman, and keeps many acoustic musical instruments in house (tnathanroane.com). Susi (43) mom is a native Berliner and teacher, loves swimming and the sea. Vittorio (27) roommate is an Italian classically trained contemporary dancer. The life in our WG is relaxed. There is no cleaning or shopping roster, each taking personal responsibility to help make sure the apartment runs smoothly. Each month we each add cash into a WG cash box, from which all shared groceries are bought. As we are all vegetarian/vegans, we will only live with others who also strongly prefer not being around meat or fish. The main shared attractions: long hallway entrance for each bedroom and kitchen, a medium-sized bathtub for small bathroom, 5m2 balcony, 3m high ceilings, and a spacious 26m2 shared living room kitchen with extendable dining table, gas stove oven, washing machine, dishwasher, microwave, tall fridge-freezer, cookingware and dishes, and a large comfy sofa thankfully without TV. One could hardly find better accommodation. There's gas heating and fast WiFi 6 WLAN internet. Bicycles may be stored safely and securely in either yard or cellar.
Whom we look for: We are specifically looking for a single mom 27-44yr with child 7-10yr glad to join our family of four: dad, mom, 8yr son, Italian dancer roommate. It's also important that you are vegan/vegetarian and smokefree, that you truly wish for a life without any dead animal meat or tobacco, and also speak English and some German. We share groceries, occasional meals and evening chats, fun swim and sauna spa days, birthday parties all invited, etc. Ocean would like someone to play and share toys and meals with.
