Now that my flatmate found a place together with her BF, I'm renting out a lovely 15qm room in my first-floor apartment starting December 1. It'll initially be limited to three months, but if everything works out well and there's mutual interest, this can be extended indefinitely. The room is offered with a contract (Untermietvertrag) and Anmeldung / registration is possible.
The room itself is a good size, with high ceilings, old pine-wood floors, and a giant window facing west onto a relatively quiet residential street.
The rest of the flat (72qm) consists of our shared kitchen (fitted with everything needed for cooking and a small dinning table) and bathroom (with bathtub and washing machine) plus two other rooms - one of which is my bedroom. The third and largest room (also facing the street and with a little balcony) is currently being renovated. So far, I've removed the old dropped-ceiling, stripped off the ugly wallpaper, and will re-plaster and paint the walls and finally sand the floor. It's a bit of an ongoing project :)
The building is located in the popular Schillerkiez neighbourhood of Neukölln. That means we're wonderfully situated between two of the biggest and most popular parks; Hasenheide and the Tempelhofer Feld. The area itself boasts a great selection of restaurants (everything from fast-food to pretty high-end dining), cafes, bars, spätis, some vintage stores, a ton of supermarkets (discounter, Bio, Turkish), a weekly farmers-market on Saturday, cinemas, a couple nice bakeries, ice cream places, Rossmann, chemists / pharmacy, and and and...
The U-bahn is just a couple minutes walk away (u8 Boddinstraße) with quick connections to the Ringbahn, Hermann Platz / U7, Kotti, Alex, etc.
Reuterkiez, the Canals, Richardplaz, Görlitzer Park, Treptower Park, Graefe Straße, Bergmannkiez, Schöneberg etc etc are all extremely quick and easy to get to by bike.
You'll be sharing the flat with me, Kirk: a quiet and respectful Canadian guy in my mid thirties who's been in Berlin for over 10 years now (I speak DE and ENG). I'm trained as an architect and interested in all things design, art, music. In addition to enjoying Berlin's cultural life I'm into DIY / Handwerk, nature, running, cycling, and a ton of other tings. I like cooking and you can often find me in the kitchen with a coffee and a book /newspaper or working away on some little project or other.
My flat is my refuge - A place to relax, unwind, and feel at home. It's therefore super important that a calm and open atmosphere prevails. This is definitely not a loud, party, flat! Please no smoking inside. And I like things tidy and organized :)
I'm not really keen on the whole door-always-closed, anonymous living / "zweck wg".
And while I certainly don't expect to find a new bff, that doesn't mean we can't share a harmonious, fun, communicative, and welcoming home together.
I don't have a long list of rules or requirements but instead like to focus on mutual respect and understanding in combination with open lines of honest, up-front communication.
Open to somone of any nationality, gender, orientation. As long as you're fluent in English or German and think we might be a fit, drop me a message telling a bit about yourself, what you're doing in Berln, what you look for in a living situation, etc.
Available initally for 3 months.
The rent is 400€ total including all bills: öko electricity (also for the heating and warm-water), quick DSL/WiFi internet, and Rundfunk (state television and radio tax).
For the first month, I also ask you to provide an additional 400€ up front as a damage deposit / Kaution. This will of course be returned in full, provided you leave the room/flat in a good condition.
Living with a dog in the flat requires permission from the Landlord, so I can't guarantee anything. Cats would be no problem.
