The room is spacious (ca. 30qm) and situated in a wonderful building from the 1900s (Jugendstilvilla) in the middle of the beatiful Südstadt. It has big windows which face the back of the building in which the common garden is situated. The ceiling is high and overall the room enjoys a lot of light, especially in the mornings. The floor is of a very beautiful dark wood and in a good shape. The windows are facing the train tracks (though there is quite a bit of distance in between). With the windows closed, you don't hear the trains so much. I was bit skeptical at the beginning but have to admit that it does not impact the living quality too greatly.
Due to the historic building, there is a small peculiarity in our shared flat: we do not have a hallway. All rooms (as well as the kitchen with two bathrooms) open off the hallway, so you have your "own entrance". It might be a bit weird at first, scurrying through the dark stairwell at night. But you soon get used to it and learn to love it, as it gives you the feeling of having your own home with the character of a shared flat. However, you have to have seen it to get a good impression.
The location is perfect! You can be in the city center, Gronau, Kessenich or Poppelsdorf in less than 10 minutes by bike. Schumannstraße is (objectively speaking) by far the most beautiful street in Bonn. The "in-house" pub Mausefalle is only 2 minutes away. There are also several bakeries, a Rewe, Netto and DM, a post office and many cafés and restaurants just 5 minutes away. You can also quickly reach the chic banks of the Rhine via the tracks to the east
You would be living with Johannah (28) and Clara (35). Johannah works at an organ manfuctory and builds, repairs, and cleans musical instruments for a living. Clara is currently in the last year of her PhD in Agronomy and works with plants, drones and statistical programmes in her day-to-day. Clara works from home sometimes but is mostly at the university and Johannah never works from home. Hence, during the day, you'd have the flat mostly to yourself.
We became friends while living together and hang out together, but without that being a must. Both Johannah and Clara are very friendly, open-minded and like to cook well and often. Both are looking for someone who's interested in enjoying some friendly company as roommates but respects the feeling of sometimes just being to themselves. As mentioned above, the rooming arrangement in our building allows for a lot of "own space" if one desires it.
Clara is Brazilian and speaks Portuguese, English, and Spanish. She is learning German but we're looking for someone with a comfortable level in English, since our internal communication is mainly in English. We're a LGBTQIA+ friendly WG :)
There is a garden that can be used by all tenants of the building which we sometimes use for barbecues in summer. There is also a compartment in the basement for storage, a bicycle basement and laundry room below. Further, the staircase gets cleaned weekly by the facility manager.
We renovated the kitchen at our own expense a while ago and bought a few appliances (New fridge, dishwasher, Air Fryer etc.) for which I'd like to get a redemption amount of 150€. I will most likely also leave my bed for which we could negotiate a fair price if it's interesting to you. I will be moving out on 01.03. and the room would be available from that date onwards.
