You are looking for something special? Wonderful, fully furnished room in small, 200 years old half-timbered house is waiting for you! It is stylishly renovated in ecological adobe construction, with ceiling beams, plank floors, sloping ceilings and modern LED lighting. In the small anteroom of the larger room you can comfortably read a book, or serve a cup of tea to your guest, and there is also the wardrobe. Beautiful view into the garden and the countryside.
Rent is all inclusive. Deposit is equal to one month rent. Extension beyond 30 September 2024 is possible if we get along well with each other.
Wonderful combination of quiet countryside and proximity to Köln and Bonn. Traditional German village environment, 10 min walk to U-Bahn station "Waldorf" (line 18), from there 20 min to Bonn, 10 min to Alfter, 40 min to Köln central station. Trains run throughout the night on weekends - good for partying. Supermarkets (Aldi, rewe, Lidl, dm, organic food store), pharmacy, doctor, bakery, butcher, post office, flower store, gas station, hair cutter, DIY shop, take away restaurants, McDonalds, rural corner pubs - they are all within 15 min walk. Hour-long walks, jogging and biking through the fields and forests start right behind the house.
Two houses are situated around a shared court yard. Two female students (from France and India, 20 to 25 years old) and you share eat-in kitchen, dish washer and washing machine. Two rooms share one bathroom, the third room has its own bathroom. Three more persons (25 to 61 years, from Germany, Japan and India) bring life to the other house in the courtyard.
We enjoy the companionship of our courtyard community but at the same time feel comfortable to retreat into the splendid isolation ;-) of our own rooms. An intercultural setting with persons from different countries enriches us and makes our "Hofgemeinschaft" (courtyard community) more lively and a learning experience for all of us.
We live our individual lives, but enjoy every now and then to have dinner together in our large kitchen, or to watch TV in the evening. Tenants delight in spending a warm summer night in the beautiful garden with dry stone walls and terrace, BBQ or netflix open-air at the large screen outside. A bike can be parked in the court yard outside.
Esthetics play an important role. We believe that an environment of beauty is supportive to our well-being and the health of our souls. Our house mate must contribute to a clean house and be tidy.
Having spent many years abroad I want to encourage Erasmus students who usually have difficulties finding room before taking off to Germany. Should you still reside in your home country you are welcome to learn more about the house and its occupants via video conferencing. Of course, you are welcome to come here in person if you are around.
The ceiling height is quite low, so you should not be taller than 1,80 m.
You will be provided with a "Wohnungsgeberbestätigung", the certificate you need to register with the city administration of Bornheim. Registration is super easy, no appointment required.
