A bright, 13m2 rectangular room with parquet floors, roughly 4.5m x 3m, with an east facing window. The room is unfurnished but has plenty of space for a double bed, desk, cupboards etc. Finding furniture shouldn’t be too hard - my room was also unfurnished when I moved in and I found all my furniture within a week. The landlords are very nice and willing to help with transporting things in their car too!
The flat also has a decent sized fitted kitchen and bathroom (with a proper bath and good shower attachment). Smoking is allowed on the balcony, which is accessed through my bedroom but you would be free to use it whenever you wanted, providing I’m not asleep! We also have our own cellar, for storing bikes or similar things as well as access to a shared garden.
The apartment is located to the south of Goettingen on a quiet, residential street in Geismar. There are building works taking place next door (building a new block of flats) but they don’t work on the weekends and I haven’t heard them during the week.
By bike it takes around 15 minutes to get to the city centre, 20 minutes to the main campus and 30 minutes to the north campus. There are bus stops very close by (1 - 2 minutes walking) that take you straight into town and the apartment comes with a free parking spot that can be yours as I don’t have a car. Nearby there is a bakery, supermarkets, post office, banks – everything you could need.
A little bit about me:
I’m James, 26 and I’ve just moved to Goettingen to start a PhD. I’m from London originally and don’t speak any German yet (I'm learning now and would be keen to learn from you if you speak it). So a little bit of English is a requirement for this room, otherwise talking might be quite difficult!
I’m a relaxed, easy going person and I’m looking forward to the shared aspect of a flat, like having a meal or a drink together but of course personal space and privacy is important too. As I’m getting old (sort of) and a PhD student now, I will be quite busy and I’m not planning on having too many crazy drunken nights, so someone in a similar position would be good! All the boring stuff like cleaning we can sort out when you move in.
The room is available now or whenever you want to move in, just let me know the dates. Moving in soon would be better for me but I am flexible.
Viewings are possible most evenings during the week after 18:00 and on the weekend of the 13th/14th October. I have a busy schedule over the next few weeks but we will easily find time to view the flat, just contact me on WhatsApp, text or a phone call (+44 ----/------- or send me a message on this website.
Internet is an extra €15 a month and electricity is not included in the utilities bill, so I have included a €20 estimate for that (miscellaneous costs of €35 total above). However, the utilities and electricity costs should actually end up being lower than the quoted €65 and €20, I will explain in person or on the phone. I would also like to receive a small contribution towards the communal things I have bought so far for the apartment but we can discuss this later!
