We offer a 16m² room to rent in our spacious, renovated Altbau apartment. We will move into together as an already existing WG in September.
The windows of your room are facing east and onto the courtyard, so it is very quiet. If needed, you can freely use some furniture, such as a bookshelf, a TV unit, and wall shelves (see photos). A bed frame with spring slats may also be made available.
The entire apartment is in very good condition. It feels spacious and airy due to the typical Altbau room heights. A big plus is that it remains pleasantly temperate even in the height of summer.
The kitchen is as new and well equipped with dishwasher, microwave, stove, refrigerator, and separate freezer.
The bathroom is cosy but comfortable and accessed separately from the toilet.
Through the kitchen you can access the pantry, a storage/laundry room, and the balcony, which is 7 m² and overlooks the courtyard. We are already planning to add a hammock / reclining furniture :)
A separate basement compartment offers additional storage space.
The apartment is heated with district heating.
We have fast and stable cable internet (300 Mbit/s down, 50 Mbit/s up) and a Wi-Fi repeater.
Internet, heating costs, household insurance, etc. are already included in the rent. We will determine electricity costs when we move in, and these will be added to the rent.
The flat is located in a small cul-de-sac with lots of green spaces, garden, and two magnolia trees (which are spectacular in spring).
The location is central yet super quiet, with very convenient public transport connections:
+ 3 min to the tram stop Finanzamt
+ 4 min to the bus stop Grazbachgasse
+ 5 min to the central transfer hub Jakominiplatz
For shopping, Billa and Spar are only 3 min and 5 min walk away respectively. The very pleasant, green Augarten park and access to the riverfront is 4 minutes away by foot, and only a few minutes more to reach Hofer right behind it. KIZ Royal cinema is 3 minutes away.
We are:
MELANIE (Austrian, native German speaker. Started to study electronics and computer engineering last autumn; background in art and design; loves to chat about science, philosophy, and all kinds of nerdy stuff; is always up for ordering food.)
KARL (British, native English speaker. Writer and editor specialising in the intersection where sustainability and urbanism meet; enjoys trips to the cinema, spotting wildlife along the Mur river, and discovering/discussing a literary gem; frequently attempting to cook new dishes - to varying degrees of success! Therefore often joining Melanie in a takeaway.)
HANNI (fluffy cat and star of the show.)
We are moving our happy flat-share to Jakob-Redtenbacher-Gasse in September and are looking forward to welcoming a new member to our friendly community.
Professionals and students are welcome. Our flat-share is well suited to internationals: our common language is English.
We enjoy a sociable flat-sharing life, but equally respect and value our own space. You'll often find us in the kitchen having interesting discussions (and cakes!). We are generally more active at night than early in the morning, but careful not to disturb anyone. Sometimes we cook together or do adrenaline-fuelled activities like going to the cinema or playing miniature dinosaur golf.
It is important that our new housemate is warm and patient towards cats! Hanni is friendly and very well-behaved, and if she is welcome in your room, she will likely love spending time with you, too.
Karl is responsible for Hanni's care. Her feeding and sanitary areas will be kept in his room. He keeps them scrupulously clean, so there is no sign of them or smell in the rest of the flat.
If you want to get to know us or have further questions, we'd be happy to hear from you. We can also chat via Skype/Zoom/Teams if you are not in Graz at the moment.
