Disclaimer: Main language in the flat is German. I only wrote this text in English so everyone can understand, we are open for Internationals.
I am renting my room for 2 months, february and march.
The room will be furnished with a mattress, we can also provide a shelf, a couch and can help you to get other furniture :-)
The room in question is located in a beautiful, high ceiling, building from the early 19th century. There are two balconies, two bathrooms, one living room and a nice roomy kitchen. The room itself is quite nice too, it has a so called "Erker" at the end of it, where you can enjoy the sun, watch the neighbours or the people outside and read. The ceiling has some ornments (Stuck) which is beautiful to look at and also quite high, which gives the room a lot more space. I felt really comfortable here for the last 2 years.
The flat is located in the north-west of the Leipzig central station. You can get to the city centre in about 10-15 minutes with the tram or a bike. The closest lake for swimming is about 20-30 minutes away with the bike, there is another lake you can take a 20 minute walk to as well. If you just want to get out of the grey and into the green of nature you can do that by foot. It takes about 10-15 minutes to reach the river, which followed along, will lead you to a nice lake. Or you take a left before you reach the lake and you will have a vast forest at your disposal. There are even spaces to make a fire or grill evenings, the city will even organize the fire wood for you :-)
You can go for biking tours along the river or just stroll along the river side path. If you want to go for drinks your closest bet are the city center or Plagwitz (west part of Leipzig). With the S-Bahn you can get to Plagwitz in less than 10 minutes. If you take the bike it'll take about 15 minutes. There are several super markets, barber shops, different restaurants around the corner and along the Georg-Schuman-Straße. The closest super market is about 5 minute by foot (Konsum). 10 minutes by foot there is a huuuge Kaufland, Rewe and Aldi.
You will share the flat with my three roommates.
First, there is Pauline. She studies Earth System Data Science and Remote Sensing. She is usually busy with her two jobs plus the school but you will always see her smiling. During her free time, you can find her doing yoga, going out for mushroom hunting in the nearby forest or watching a series (probably Avatar). She loves to talk about science and scientific topics in general so you can always hear interesting facts from her.
Then, we have Hanna. She studies Social Work at HTWK. When she is not working, she occasionally likes to go clubbing or grab some drinks at a bar. She also repaints and renovates different types of
furniture to sell it online. She is, at the same time, very handy with the sewing machine, tidying and modifying clothes. She is also a really good listener and very understanding.
There is also Batu, who is studying american studies in Leipzig. He moved here from turkey and is always up for a good talk or some banter. He likes to go out to punk bars in Connewitz, good movies and has a very good and diverse taste in music - good way to fill up your playlist with new inspiration ;)
Your fourth flatmate Tom is currently doing an Erasmus in Naples and will be back in March, replacing Hanna. He likes cooking, playing (card) games, talking about politics, playing football and going out to concerts and techno parties.
You might only live here for 2 months, which doesn´t mean you can´t have a very nice community around you and we are happy to welcome you!
We like cook and eat together and spend evenings together in our large living room or on our sunny balcony. At the weekends we like to go cycling together in the countryside or to open air concerts. We also regularly play cards and other games.
In our flat we have plenty of space on our two balconies and in our large kitchen for joint hangover breakfasts. We have a cleaning schedule, help each other a lot and are always happy to have visitors. We also have a vegetable garden in our backyard. If you like gardening, you are welcome to join us (ewven though that probably won´t work in March...)
I hope this is enough for you to guess how living in this flat might turn out. Just let me know and we can arrange for a personal meeting with my flatmates or if it's more convenient an online meeting. Talk to me, if you are looking for a room but you are missing some crucial things or if it is too expensive.
And just to make sure: We are not open to any kind of sexism, racism, bigotry, anti-queerness and what not.
