The Room is quite big and gets a lot of light through the two lovely windows. Because I’m subletting it, my furniture will stay in the room (140 cm bed, desk, wardrobe, bookshelf.) I have cleared some space, so you will have room to store your things. :)
The apartment is located right on the border between Reudnitz and Neustadt-Neuschönefeld.
The Koehlerstraße and Gerichtsweg stops are less than five minutes' walk away. With lines 4 & 7 you can be in the city center within five minutes (e.g. at the university on Augustusplatz). Almost faster by bike :)
Our pentagonal kitchen looks out directly onto Stephaniplatz, which we actually just call our garden. In our house there is a Späti, a kebab store and a small bar. Nearby are Olive and Napoletana, both much-loved food spots that people from all over Leipzig make a pilgrimage to.
If you hop on your bike, you'll be on Eisi (Eisenbahnstraße) in 5 minutes, where there are lots of bars, cafés and falafel stores. If you cycle in the other direction, you can be in Lene Park (Café Bubu, Espresso Zack Zack) in 3 minutes.
Down the street there is a large Kaufland, Rossmann, Humana, a pharmacy and a savings bank. We also have Rewe, Penny, Aldi and a Denn's in the area.
there is a very loving atmosphere in our WG. We enjoy doing (different things) together. Of course, depending on how stressful our everyday life is at the time, we like to go out together, do handicrafts or cook for/with each other and share our small and big worries. The best thing about our apartment is the large, pentagonal kitchen/living room. It's the center of our life together and we like to spend a lot of time together there.
That's why we are looking for a flatmate who is interested in living together in a mindful and active way, although everyone can of course always have their own space and retreat. We speak a mix of English and German at home and make sure not to exclude anyone.
There will be 4 other people living with you:
Rensy(she/her) speaks at least 5 languages and has just started to study German as a foreign language. She has a very warm and open nature, loves to laugh and is always there when you need her. Very talented but not professional, she cuts all our hair and together with her boy friend Arya she regularly rocks the best outfits or can be found at the Leipzig flea markets on the weekends. She has a thing for dinosaurs and K-Pop and loves watching Ghibli movies.
Olivia(she/her) is a positive and radiant person. Her favorite place to be is outside in nature and in the summer she spends a lot of time in Stünzer Park. She knows a lot about birds and trees and has an infectious way of talking about her interests. She also goes to the gym regularly (and very early) and plays the violin very well. As a supportive family of choice, we are of course always proud to attend her concerts in the university orchestra. Olivia studies law and would like to go into environmental law.
Nizz (he/him) loves listening to music and would probably die for Kendrick. Without any real plan, he has an amazing green thumb and discovered houseplants for himself last year. He's always down for grabbing something to eat on the Eisi. He drinks a lot of coffee and mate, but it makes him tired, which is why regular naps are definitely part of his daily routine. He has been studying Digital Humanities for a while, but doesn't know exactly what it is himself.
the 4th person will be a suprise, since Emma who has been living with us for the last 2 years is about to move out. So there will be a new person moving in at about the same time as you. :)
Other: As a queer/ FLINTA*/ PoC WG (not all of of the labels apply to all of us) we like to go to queer/ FLINTA* parties and and it’s very important to us that our home is a space where we all feel safe and comfortable.
It goes without saying that we have no tolerance for discriminatory behavior such as homophobia, racism, sexism, transphobia, anti-semitism, islamophobia, ableism and any other form of discrimination.
In our past, with other roommates, we have had issues with ideas of housekeeping/cleaning and want someone who is sensitive and considerate of others' needs. (We all have similar and rather high standards of cleanliness and tidiness in the communal areas)
From time to time, if it's okay for everyone, we smoke in the kitchen with the window open.
If you can imagine living with us, please write us a few sentences about yourself. We look forward to hearing from you :) auch gerne auf deutsch!
GEZ and internet are not yet included in the costs.
