From 1st of August one room for international student will be available in our six person WG in the amazing Geissweg housing project. It has 15m2, cost 261€ with all the cost included. It is possible to take over the furnished (bed, desk, computer chair, library...) for 150 €, the closet and the commode are from the room. The room has its own internet (LAN) connection. The flat consists of central a kitchen-living room and 2 corridors with 3 rooms each, with separate showers and toilets.
To be able to have a contract for this room you have to be international student at the university of Tübingen and you have to stay for at least one semester(but we hope that you will stay with us for longer :)). The contract is done with the Studierendenwerk (so you still have to have "Wohnzeit" left there) and the caution is 400€.
The Geissweg dormitory is about 10 minutes walk from the city center and the
Central university buildings, there is several bus stops at 2 minutes walks that go direct to the clinics or to the train station. The Geissweg dorm itself consists of 5 houses built around a yard which is perfect for barbecues, hanging out and meeting new people. In the basement of the houses there is a music room, washing machines, bicycle cellar, storage space... There is also a quieter garden behind the house that is accessible from the kitchen of our flat.
Currently living in the flat are Rocio (master student archaeology - anthropology), Emily (bachelor biology), Marie (Master Biology), Maurice (bachelor economics) and Jens (Master plant biology). We are a diverse group that speak German and English, Spanish and French. We like to spend time together like dinner or evening games, but everyone is of course free to make their own plans as well.
In case you haven't heard of Geissweg: Geissweg is a self-managed Wohnheim, but it's still part of Studierendenwerk. In contrast to typical Wohnheims, we decide who lives with us. About 90 people live in 6-bed apartments among the 5 houses. There's always something going on, and there are many cool events throughout the semester (but with Corona they are currently on pause). In the yard, the heart of the Geissweg, it's a great place to socialize. Here you can hang out in colourful, international groups and there is always room for planning new projects and events.
