Hey there!
The second bedroom of my 2 bedroom Altbau apartment in the 12th district of Vienna is coming available from June onwards until the end of September. It might be free earlier in mid-May, but depends on the situation of my current housemate.
The lovely bedroom itself can be left either unfurnished or partly furnished (bed, chest of drawers...etc... are on loan), with two garden-facing windows that get direct sun in the mornings. Dimensions-wise, I’m waiting on the exact m2 from the landlord, but the rough measurements I got were L 4.5m, W 3.85m, H 2.9m.
The room has a small storage cupboard above the door, there’s also a shared shelving unit out in the corridor, and a (currently chaotic) cupboard in the stairwell of the building, so lots of space to store things. The bathroom is fitted with shower, bath and washing machine. The small kitchen has a dishwasher, electric oven/stove, small fridge and table set, and kettle, toaster…etc.. There is a toilet and it is doing fine.
It’s a beautiful, cosy, quiet flat with every window facing either the courtyard or garden, meaning zero traffic and city noise, just the birds and trees to wake up to. It’s officially in 1120, but just one road away from the 13th, with bus (58A/B) and tram (62) connections to Hietzing (U4), Meidling, Hetzendorf, Atzgersdorf and Speising right around the corner. There’s the Hietzinger Bad just over the road, a nice, independent Biomarkt next door from that, and a few mins walk from your normal stores, Apotheke…etc… Alot of lovely green spaces within walking, or short bike ride distance, including Schönbrunn and Lainzer Tiergarten.
You’d be living with me, Michael, hey there! I’m a 30 year old self employed musician from England that’s been living in Vienna the last 5 and a half years. Besides music, I like running, swimming, cycling, writing, chess, yoga, reading, tea, beer and napping. My mother tongue's English, and I speak basic/day-to-day German, but would appreciate if we both share English to make sure we can always communicate properly.
I’ve belonged to shared flats and houses my whole life, and enjoy a nice balance of both social and involved-ness and quiet and space. It’s really lovely and important to have a friendly vibe, hang, cook, play games and drink wine together, but also to have plenty of time when it’s a calm, chill place for everyone. I tend to do a lot of my music work at my studio space, but sometimes have to practice/record little bits of my sad folk music at home, so just to be aware of that.
It’d be important to me that we care similarly about making and keeping the flat a clean, comfortable, happy place. The flat is also totally non-smoking. I eat a vegan diet, and naturally accept all folks’ eating choices, but would rather have no meat (ideally dairy too, but less of a priority) in the house.
Hopefully it goes without saying that this is not a home for anyone with transphobic, homophobic, racist, misogynistic, bigoted or generally asshat views. Good, honest, trustworthy communication skills, and zero leanings towards passive-aggressiveness are also a must.
There’s been construction work happening in the flat above and out in the Hof (with the addition of an elevator) over the last year, but it should be done in the coming months, perhaps already by June.
The rent is 315€ (warm), and as mentioned above, sadly the contract will be over at the end of September, as the landlord's family needs the flat. If it works out, I'd be open to finding another 2 person flat together after that.
