Your new room is 14 m2 big. Due to large windows the room is very bright. The room is fully furnished and should be handed over like this to the next tenant. Your new furniture includes a large bed + mattress (140x200) and wardrobe. Additionally you will have a desk, a desk chair, a shelf (IKEA). There is a transfer fee of 200€ for items/additions the previous roommate has bought and chosen to leave behind for the room, as well as a small furniture fee.
Some side facts: A washing machine, a dishwasher, your own fridge and freezer section and all the equipment like pots, pans, dishes etc. are available in the kitchen. The bathroom is equipped with a bathtub and a little shower and provides a little shelf for every tenant. The rest room is in a separated room.
You will make the contract for your room directly with the landlord, so there is no main tenant. You can always move out of the flat given that you find an appropriate new tenant by yourself, otherwise there will be a normal period of 3 months notice. However, the landlord prefers to rent the room to someone who would at least stay for a year.
The WG also has a small storage room, a cozy kitchen and a bathroom with bathtub. It's on a 2nd floor with elevator, and there are a cellar and a bike room downstairs.
Let’s start with the most important issue: Food! Penny, Spar, Hofer and Lidl are just 2-8 min away by foot. Nearby the flat is Yppenplatz that includes one of Europe's biggest markets for fresh food, bars and restaurants. A paradise for cooks and food lovers. Just around the corner you will find a small commercial center at Elterleinplatz with a post office, banks, hairdresser etc.. Moreover, nearby there are tram stations for line 43 and 44 that take you to the main university in 8 minutes. The next metro station (either Alser Str. Or Josefstädter Str. Line U6) is just 5-10 minutes away by foot. With the bike you can reach the city center within a few minutes, additionally the sports faculty is 10 minutes away by bike. If you like to stay fit there is a fitness center roughly 10 minutes walking from the flat. If you like the outdoors the tram will take you to the outskirts of Vienna in just 15-20 minutes. In general our street is very peaceful so studying or working at home is not a problem at all.
You will be living with Eliza and Joel who I would describe as very nice and fun flatmates.
Eliza (30) is a half German half Chinese freelance graphic designer who moved to Vienna for no other reason than a random adventure. During her extroverted moments she enjoys having bubble tea dates with friends, going to events or exhibits, eating lots of different types of food, and trying out new things. During her quiet time, she enjoys keeping a tidy clean home, crafting, reading, watching a variety of series and shamelessly consuming a whole lot of k-pop content. Some claim that her hidden passion is home improvement, so maybe that’s her secret calling. :P
Joel (26) is from Germany and studies at WU. He likes to go to the gym, cook, meet friends and go out for a drink or to parties on the weekend. He is also interested in fashion, movies and food :)
He likes to describe himself as friendly and open-minded, and hopes that you bring the same qualities with you when moving in :)
At home, we speak mostly English but also juggle some other languages (German, Japanese). From time to time, we enjoy having spontaneous conversations in the kitchen (usually while someone is cooking). But as quiet time is often needed after a busy work week, everybody respects each other’s privacy to have their own time as well. We do have a cleaning schedule for the apartment and cleanliness is something really important to us but the general atmosphere in the flat is always very relaxed and peaceful space. Internationals welcome!
There is a small storage room in the basement and in the ground floor there are two rooms to park bikes. The house is equipped with an elevator.
