Room available in self-governed student dormitory

Dear future flatmate,
we are a group of 22 students, living together in a big house and are searching for an international student coming to Germany. The room is available from the 01.02. Our house is called "forum" and belongs to a non profit organization. We try to provide affordable living space for students in Göttingen. In the forum there are 6 corridors, which all have their own bathroom and kitchen. All residents share a big garden and two common rooms (a big living room with a fireplace and a home cinema in the basement).
Part of living here is that we are self-organized, which means that everyone takes on responsibility for some portion of the house and the jobs needed to help keep our community going. For example, there are people taking care of the garden and others organizing our monthly meetings. In these meetings we come together to talk and decide about everything concerning the house. Apart from these "official" meetings we also come together for many other occasions, like watching movies, doing sports or having a barbecue.

In your future shared flat Lucas (31), Gerrid (25) and Isabel (25) will be your flatmates.

Lucas (31) lives in the Forum since Summer 2021, where he first was sleeping in his van, but then took the opportunity to move in once a room got free. He is doing his PhD in theoretical neuroscience, loves to play music (with or without the band Max Funk Institute), and to do sports (when he finds the time...). Else, he is having a lot of fun and trouble with his 6 years old son Luan, who is the youngest resident in the Forum and spends half of the week here. Both like to cook together, to fight with lightsabers and to play games.

Gerrid (25) is a very creative and funny roommate who makes the best cakes and pancakes. He loves to work on crafts and woodwork and can fix (almost) anything. He enjoys going for walks in the woods with his flatmates, sitting with friends with a coffee or a beer, but also needs some peace and quiet to do yoga or meditate.

Isa (25) is studying for a Master's degree in geography and is very interested in environmental protection and nature. She loves doing yoga, sometimes plays the guitar and enjoys sitting in the kitchen with a coffee. She is also a member of a climate protection group. To balance things out, she likes to watch movies with friends over a beer in the evening or enjoy a vegan cookout.
