Researcher - Looking in Heidelberg

Hello, my name is Steve and I am a researcher at the Max Planck Institute in Heidelberg. I study soft biohybrid robotics which nicely overlaps with my background in chemistry and biology. I cooked all the food in my profile photo for my friends in Heidelberg.

I am starting my PhD in early 2022 and am looking for a place of my own. I have noticed that not every flat on WG has an oven, and this is something I would really need to live in a place for more than a year. I don't need a dishwasher, however.

I am 43, and realize I am much older than the typical student. My prior work experiences have led me to conclude that the best thing I could do is use my science background and interests to earn a Ph.D. here in Germany. My colleagues and current landlord are happy to provide any needed references which demonstrate I am a responsible and conscientious roommate and tenant.

I am quiet, professional, and studious. I prefer an environment where I can study and work. I cook whenever my schedule allows, I enjoy being in the kitchen and feel eating healthy food is one of the best ways to keep in good shape. I get regular sleep, drink alcohol occasionally, and enjoy down time when not focusing on my studies. I work to keep the house clean - I know how to clean a kitchen and bathroom after living in my own apartment in New York City for 10 years.

I've traveled and lived in different parts of the world since my bachelor's degree. Before living in NYC, I lived in Guyana South America for two years. I was in the interior of the continent and could hear all sorts of monkey howls every night! I've been to India and China, Ireland, France and the UK as well.

I have numerous references that can attest to my cleanliness, responsibility, study habits and financial stability. I expect that I will be out of the apartment during normal business hours, and probably on some weekends as well. As you can probably guess, securing reliable housing is a challenge.
