Das Zimmer ist ungefähr 11 Quadratmetern klein, aber gemütlich. Da ich für zweieinhalb Monate ins Ausland gehe, bleiben meine Möbel drinnen. Deshalb kann ich mit Sicherheit sagen: Auf dem Hochbett liegend kann man über die Dächer der Eisenbahnstraße schauen und im riesigen Schrank alles (un)mögliche verstauen. Außerdem ist außenrum genug Platz: Als 7er-WG haben wir drei Bäder mit Badewannen, zwei Küchen und ein großes Wohnzimmer mit der WG-eigenen Bibliothek und Platz für Übernachtungsgäste. Den langen Flur kann man in Socken wunderbar entlang schlittern.
The room has 11 m², but it's comfy. It is furnished, has a bunk bed, a desk, a big cupboard and everything one needs. The rest of the apartment offers a lot of space: There are three bathrooms with tubs, two kitchens and a big livingroom with our very own small library.
Mitten auf der Eisenbahnstraße gelegen,ist die Wohnung direkt in einem der Zentren Leipzigs: Nette Kneipen und Cafés gibts um die Ecke und überall Einkaufsgelegenheiten: Konsum, Aldi, Netto, türkische und arabische Supermärkte, Bäcker und ein verrücktes Geschäft namens "Im Angebot", in dem es bestimmte Produkte sehr günstig gibt. Außerdem ist die Eisenbahnstraße für die zu fast jeder Tageszeit erhältlichen Döner- und Falafelvariationen berühmt. Ein schöner und ein weniger schöner Park sind auch nicht weit.
Zur Straßenbahn sind es zu Fuß zwei Minuten, mit ihr ist man in zehn Minuten in der Innenstadt, mit dem Fahrrad gehts einen Ticken schneller.
The apartment is on Eisenbahnstraße, one of the centers of Leipzigs. There are nice bars and cafés just around the corner and a lot of places to buy groceries. If you need a night snack, there's also cheap (but good) pizza, falafel and kebab. If you are looking for some nature, there's a beautiful park close by.
The tram station is right in front of the building (but not in front of the room, don't worry) and from there it's ten minutes to the city center.
Die meisten Menschen in der WG studieren (Lehramt, Kulturwissenschaften, Politikwissenschaft und Kunst), seit Neuestem weilt auch eine Berufstätige unter uns. Teilweise sprechen wir Englisch miteinander. Es gibt eine WG-Kasse, einen Putzplan und einmal die Woche regionales Biogemüse von einer solidarischen Landwirtschaft. Wir verbringen gerne Zeit miteinander, kochen füreinander oder gehen mal ein Bier trinken. Hin und wieder gibt's auch eine große Gemeinschaftsaktion. Wenn jemand mal seine Ruhe haben will, ist das aber auch kein Problem.
Most of the people in the flat study (cultural science, politics, art or teaching profession), but one recently started an almost full time job. We share our food and have a cleaning plan. Once a week we get local bio-vegetables from a farm close to Leipzig. We like to spend time together, do some cooking, drink a beer. If somebody wants to have his or her peace, that's okay too.
