My name is Zoran Vuckovac, a PhD student at the Graduate Centre for the Study of Culture. I have been living at the place since October last year and the only reason I am leaving is that my partner did not get her visa on time so there is no need for me to rent such a spacious one-bedroom apartment.
The place can be shared in case of a couple or young parents and is definitely suitable for people who like living in a well-connected part of town without having to huge amounts of money for it. The basic rent is 450€, with additional costs (Nebenkosten) ranging from 120€ (for a single person) to over 150€ (for two or more people). The extra costs are water and electricity, 20€ and 30€ respectively and the internet which costs around 20€.
The landlord is quite subtle, he does not live in the building and comes by only when announced. The rest of the tenants are also quite cool, ranging from students to an amazing couple who took part in the protests of 1968.
It is officially available as of the end of May .
This is a 45 square meter one-bedroom apartment on the second floor situated at the outer side of the pedestrian zone, on Bahnhofstrasse 45. It overlooks the street as well as the backyard, with both the living room and the bedroom well lit. Its central location makes it easy to reach Marktplatz (3 minutes), as well as to be at the train station in less than 10 minutes. While it is within 5 minute walk to Aldi, Penny, Tegut or Rewe, the place is just one block away from a very hip burger place, brewery pub AltGiessen and several others.
I will give away all of the furniture away except for the bed. That includes bookshelves that I tailored for the niche in the living room, the couch and the lights as well as the shelves, closet and working desks in the bedroom. These are negotiable as well as the date of entry, after of course talking to the landlord.
