The room is not big (around 12m2), but I currently have a double bed, desk, and some drawers and shelving, and it doesn't feel cramped. I will be taking over my flatmates room and you will have my current room.
The room's small size is made up for by the very spacious living room with a French balcony (not an actual balcony!) and a nice kitchen.
The flat is clean, modern and bright, and is on the 3rd floor (if you are American, you will unfortunately have to climb another flight of stairs up to the 4th floor).
I've been living here for 18 months and have been very comfortable.
The room gets a little bit of sun in the morning and then the living room / kitchen get sun from midday to sunset.
The room is currently unfurnished, but there is a comfortable and clean single mattress which you are welcome to sleep on until you get set up.
The flat is on Berliner Str. in Pankow, which is essentially Schönhauser Allee after it crosses Bornholmer Str. It's right on the border between Prenzlauer Berg and Pankow.
It's just a few minutes' walk to U Vinetastr. which has U2 connecting to Alexanderplatz, M1 which goes straight to Rosenthaler Platz, and 50 to Wedding.
It's also close to Bornholmer Str./Schönhauser Allee which has a bunch of trams such as 50 and M1 again, and M13 to Wedding/Weißensee/Warschauer Str.
It's about a 10-minute walk to S Schönhauser Allee which has the Ringbahn, and S Bornholmer which has S-Bahn trains going south to Friedrichstraße, Mitte, Potsdamer Platz, Südkreuz etc.
There's an ALDI right behind the building which takes literally 2 minutes to get to. There is also NETTO, LIDL and Penny closeby as well. There's also the Arcaden at S Schönhauser Allee which has dm, Rossmann and all the normal German shops you would expect.
You will be living with me, Rich. I'm 31 years old and originally from near London. I've been in Germany for almost 10 years and I speak C2 German and a bit of Spanish.
I studied linguistics and German in the UK, and later Mind & Brain in Berlin.
My interests include: photography, cycling, traveling, reading and writing. I love talking about consciousness, technology, philosophy, AI, history, languages, politics, the universe, aliens and the future.
I currently work remotely for a quit-smoking app and as a freelance translator. I also have a side job in a small photo studio across the street. I'm really into photography and currently focusing on portraits.
I am a pretty calm and open person. I like to keep things clean and tidy and respectful but I am not "one of those people". If you accidentally sneeze at 22:01, put something in the wrong bin, pee standing up or leave crumbs on the table for 2 minutes, I am not going to write a note on your bedroom door, so don't worry about that. If we just both behave like normal respectful human beings and deal with issues on friendly terms as they arise, we will be fine together. :)
I'm usually at home in the mornings and cook lunch at home. I'm 90% vegetarian and prefer not to have a lot of meat around the kitchen, but I don't mind if you cook it occasionally.
After work I usually go outside to take photos or explore. In the evening I'm often out with friends, especially at the weekend, but sometimes I like to have a quiet evening at home too.
I'm open to living with anyone as long as they're nice and chill. I think it's important that you get on with your roommates. I'm up for going out together from time to time or hanging out in the living room / kitchen if we both feel like it, but I also don't care if you need your space and disappear in your room.
Bonus points if you're into photography, you want to teach me Spanish, you have an eye for interior design, or you plan to bring furniture with you (the apartment currently needs a couch, coffee table, more shelving, a few chairs, and PLANTS.)
My Instagram is https://www.instagram.com/richardgeorgemarsh/ ... feel free to message me there if you genuinely think you are a good fit.
You will sign an Untermietvertrag with me.
Deposit €1000
The landlady is German so obviously you will need all the standard documents – Schufa (jetzt beantragen) , Einkommensnachweis etc.
At some point next year I am hoping to find a smaller apartment to move into by myself, but if you are living here already you can probably find someone to replace me and discuss it with the landlady.
Anmeldung IS POSSIBLE!!!!! 🥳
