Hey dears!
I live in two rooms in a four-room high ceiling Altbau belle-etage apartment in Wedding. After almost 4 years of mostly working and studing I will leave Berlin to travel for two months and rent out my two beautiful rooms. (Practically it is going to be 1,5 rooms you can use as half of one room will be filled with my stuff)
For October and November I want to find a kind hearted and tidy person to fill my beautiful and beloved space with life, water my plants, harvest the chilis and talk to my pigeons.
I'm a photographer, film maker and visual artist and my place is my sanctuary. I spend a lot of time there, arrange everything with great care and passion and adore that it is a vibrant and inviting space.
The walls are hung with my work and everything is fully furnished with great love for quality and detail. I have a home cinema and a beautiful balcony (two well mannered pigeons live there from time to time).
What is most important to me is that you care for my plants. They are not difficult to have and will give you great appreciation in return. Also for sure I would much appreciate if you give good care for my things since many of them are of great emotional value to me and – you can imagine – I don't want any trouble with this.
I really love the area I live in!
Brüsseler Kiez (named after our street!) is a very diverse neighbourhood full of life. There is a s Späti in our house, our street has bet-shops and shisha bars same as Bioläden and cute restaurants. All kinds of supermarkets, discounters, drug stores and everyday shopping things are maximum one block away. There is a turkish market twice a week, a public library, the flea market on Leopoldplatz, a cineplex same as an arthouse cinema.. everything in walking distance. The trendy areas Sprengelkiez, Malplaquetstraße or Gerichtsstraße are also only a short walk if you like more the hip stuff.
Especially during lockdown I learned to appreciate how green the area is: Zeppelinpark is just around our block. In about 10 min you are at Schillerpark which offers amazing walks or sports opportunities. Same distance you find the Spree canal which allows nice walks. And in 20 min you are at Rehberge and Plötzensee which is one of the biggest recreational areas in Berlin. If you jump on a bike you are at Tegeler See or Flughafensee in less then 30 min.
The public transport connection is very good, U6 Seestraße connects you to Mitte, XBerg and Fhain and even down to Neukölln you get in less then 30 min. The U9 Leopoldplatz connects well to the West of Berlin, M13/50 connects to U8 Osloer Str or brings you directly towards PBerg. Airport connection is a true fuckup since Tegel is gone but Hauptbahnhof is 20 min with the new U6/U5-crossing at Unter den Linden. If you like driving the motorway is close. And all car sharing or scooter-companies are well distributed around here.
I lived in this space for more then 10 years with my partner and since we separated last year and I can‘t afford the flat on my own I live with two amazing room mates, that I’m sure you will also like.
Hana is in their mid-20s and they study dance and choreography at Uferstudios. They are from Croatia and used to work there as a graphic designer before coming to Berlin.
Amanda is around 30 and worked in Brazil as a doctor. She is also into dancing, loves to rollerskate and spends most of her time studying German so that she will be able to work as a doctor in Germany too.
We don't hang out very often but are always happy about a little chat in the hallway. But I'm sure you'll be finding your way quickly.
