Chicagoan looking for a short break from the US

I'm an American looking to stay in Berlin for 3 months from April to the end of June, or May til the end of July. I'm 25, I'm an award-winning journalist and documentarian from Chicago, IL, I studied Urban Planning and Economics, and I work full-time for a print newspaper on the South Side (@southsideweekly), and in national housing policy. But I'm looking to take an extended break and have some peacetime in Europe for a few months.

I'm a street photographer, a writer (I'll be working on narrative essays while I'm there), I have an interdisciplinary art practice and I absolutely love music, food, and culture. So during my stay I definitely plan on being adventurous and seeing the city and its spots - but I am mostly looking to relax, reflect, meet people, dance (!!!), make art, and create some lasting memories.

I have friends in Hamburg and around Europe so I plan on traveling a little bit each month, but definitely hoping to cultivate a community for myself in Berlin for when I come back!
