The room is part of a fairly large apartment (for two people that is). The windows of the room face the inner courtyard of a block of flats, so it is usually very quiet in the room. The sun only shines in the room early in the morning (which is good in warm summers :-)). The room has a bed (180 x 200 cm), a desk with a chair and a desk lamp, a sink in the room, a small shelf and two clothes racks. The floor is made of PVC. In addition, a larger desk can be used in the extensive living room where there is also more light (south-west side). The room has its own bathroom (as there are two in the apartment).
The apartment is very centrally located: 8 minutes walk to the main train station, a stop (bus no. 14) is 1 minute away, a tram line 5 stop is 5 minutes away. The apartment is also very close to the university hospital and the university institute district.
The roommate, Marina, is a Greek PhD student in biology. She speaks Greek and English, but not German (hence all these descriptions are in English). She usually each day spends a long time working on her doctor thesis in the laboratory, and then appreciates the apartment as a quiet retreat. She is very calm and friendly.
As she is so busy, there are no planned joint activities, no cooking evenings or the like. This will perhaps deter those who are looking for a place to party, listen to loud music or invite guests frequently, or look forward to frequent activities with their roommates. Someone like that, we believe, will be happier elsewhere. Those who likewise prefer their home as a quiet retreat and/or place to work with the occasional friendly exchange with roommates, however, would fit in nicely. Cleanliness is very important to Marina: Once a week we clean the common areas, i.e. the kitchen, living room and hallway, and we take turns doing so. Lastly, Marina expressly wishes to have a female roommate.
A few more details about the apartment: It has a large living room (approx. 35 square meters) with two sofas. The furniture here is older (80's) while the interior of the living room is reminiscent of a Black Forest hut :-) There is also a dining table with a bench around a tiled stove, which is warm in winter as the heating system is on the other side of the adjacent wall.
The kitchen allows for gas cooking, microwave and mini oven - cutlery and crockery are already provided, as is the mentioned furniture.
Contact and viewing options: Please contact us by email with a brief description of yourself. The emails go first to Christopher, who is the main tenant. He flies to China on May 2nd for about a year - which is also the time frame the room is available. We are open for online visits (via Zoom/Skype), but also for visits in person and on site.
The rental period is somewhat flexible: It could begin anytime between 1st and 15th of May and end next year in March, April or May. Please mention in the e-mail from when until when you would like to move in.
We're looking forward to your emails! :-)
