The room itself isn't super big, but like all the other rooms it has a separate platform "upstairs" where most of us have their beds because the ceiling is lower. (See photos for further details) All in all it's somewhere around 15m². There's one centered window with a really nice view down on the Yppenplatz. One of our shared bathrooms is right around the corner, but as an added perk you've got your very own sink! Your immediate neighbors are both very nice and quiet, but there is the possibility of hearing some Shakira every now and then :D The room is being cleared out right now and you could move in at the beginning of August!
Our flat is located directly above one of the liveliest squares in all of Vienna, the infamous Yppenplatz. Lots of Cafés, even more people, street music, etc. Sometimes when you open the windows it feels more like being on holiday than living in a flat in Vienna! Especially now during the summer. Connected to the Yppenplatz you'll find the Brunnenmarkt. A market area with affordable prices, which makes you feel you could be anywhere in the near-east, but not necessarily Austria. Just outside, a 50 meter walk away, we have the Tram No. 44 that takes you straight to Schottentor and thus the university. A 7 minute walk and you can choose between Josefstädter Straße and Alser Straßer as your respective U6 Subway Station. Also just outside is one of those easyBike-Stands. Penny-Markt, Hofer, Lidl and Spar are around the corner, too.
In the rare case that everybody is home at the same time we are, all in all, 9 people. Which sounds like a lot, I know! You must think, it's incredibly crowded and there's something going on all the time and you won't get any privacy. But generally it depends on how you want to spend your time. With so many people it's pretty easy-breezy-living. You can come and go when you want, have someone over when you want and invite as many people as you'd like, as long as they are respectful. (And if it's so many people that it could be considered a party, please tell us beforehand, we like to party :D) There's always someone there if you want to hang out and talk but if you're tired and just want to chill in your room no one will fault you for that either! We also have a cleaning lady that comes over once a week, but we still have to do our own rooms and we all try to keep the kitchen/living room in check!
Generally we are very open-minded, easy-going, creative people, mostly students (6 of us) loving music and art above anything else. If you are like that too, you'll probably fit right in. 3 of us are Austrian, 2 German, 2 from Syria/Lebanon and 1 from Spain. We're looking forward to hear from you :D
