We are looking for allies and future friends to co-create an ecological, creative and long-term housing project. We are aiming for a group size of about 10 to 15 people. The group can consist of individuals, friends, couples and families.
If you are interested, please try to answer the questions down below.
We are:
Mona (26)
... studies environmental engineering at the Beuth and works part-time at the VCD e.V. to finance her studies - and also somehow to be a part of the Berlin traffic turnaround.
Lotte (38)
... is a psychologist on a journey, i.e. works as a psychotherapist, but is constantly trying out other professions on the side, from packing vegetable crates and milking goats at a solawi to programming (nothing serious) and working as a vet’s assistant.
Patrick the Elder (38)
... builds media for science and politics for a large institution. As this quickly makes his head spin, he looks forward to harvesting strawberries, digging holes and hanging (and testing) hammocks.
Patrick the Younger (28)
... is currently doing his doctorate at the BTU Cottbus on sufficiency in construction. Accordingly, he likes to explain in detail why we definitely want to buy an existing building instead of building a new one, whereby he can say "so to speak" more often than any politician.
Franziska (34)
... seeks solutions for social imbalances. Because this is often meta, she is still learning Gestalt therapy. At weekends she already likes to be in the countryside.
Kim (33)
... is writing his Master's thesis in computer science. He prefers handicrafts to his job as a programmer, tries his hand at growing edible mushrooms and goes bouldering.
Because of the group size we are aiming for, we have in mind a multi-party house in Brandenburg. This can be anything from a 3-sided courtyard to an industrial ruin, as long as the location is nice and the object is affordable including renovation/conversion. Basically, we want to find an old building and not build a new one, but at most extend/add on/convert. The condition of the building should allow us to move in in the relatively short term, possibly for part of the group.
In accordance with the goal of living together, there should be no individual one-room flats or flats for couples, but rather several shared flats with common rooms and an overarching common room for the whole building.
The location is still open and of course depends very much on the building. We would like to have a location that is within easy reach of the Berlin main station by public transportation in max. 60 minutes.
However, we have to be prepared for medium to long commuting times, because no building can be found at affordable prices in the city of Berlin or in the surrounding area.
So far, we have therefore focused our search on places within cycling distance of regional train stations around Berlin, as we do not want to depend on cars.
We would like to live "communally" - this starts with a "room layout" concept (depending on the property) with a communal living structure and jointly used rooms, and extends to joint work on the house and joint provisioning.
For us, community means that we appreciate each other, help each other and find solutions to problems. We prefer to get along without big "plenary debates", but talk about difficulties or tasks over dinner.
Basically, we want to strive for a lifestyle within planetary boundaries. On the one hand, this means to pay attention to ecology as much as possible when renovating and operating buildings, to build accordingly with sustainable materials and, depending on the initial situation of the future property, to use only renewable energies in the short to medium term.
One important piece of information in advance: we are all vaccinated and consider this to be sensible and important. Anti-vaxxers and conspiracy theories will not find a place with us.
Current status
Since we want to build our project according to the principles of the Mietshäuser-Syndikat, we are currently founding the Einfach Zusammen Wohnen Verein (e.V.). At the same time, we are actively looking for more people to join us and are already looking at one or two properties.
It is important to us that you first find out what this means on the Mietshäuser Syndikat website
https://www.syndikat.org/
Please only write to us if you basically support the idea of the syndicate. I.e. that we will buy the building together according to the model, the preparations (getting to know each other&Orga&Crafts) will definitely take a few months and we will not just rent out rooms.
If you feel a bit curious now, we are looking forward to your detailed introduction:
Who are you? What do you do? What do you stand for? What are you looking for in the housing project? What do you want to contribute? What are your plans for the next 3 to 5 years? Why do you want to live in a housing project in Brandenburg, away from Berlin, in the countryside? How do you imagine commuting in concrete terms? How many days do you have to spend in Berlin? What does it mean to you to live in a housing project? Are you willing to invest 1 to 2 hours a week (on average per month) in this project? Are you aware that the earliest move-in can be in about 6 months, depending on when we find a property? Are you voluntarily and fully vaccinated against Covid?
The further process with you would be as follows:
We would meet 2x to see if there is a vibe between us since we want to live in close quarters in the long term. Our process of getting to know each other is as follows: We invite you several times, make trips together if necessary and then see if we can imagine living together in the long term.
We are looking forward to meeting you!
Mona, Lotte, Patrick (alt), Patrick (jung), Franziska und Kim
Ps.: You are free to write us in english or german.
